Probably won't as I don't ever plan to rescue one. I'm aware of the dangers, and everything about this story above implies that regardless of the breed, the owner should not have had a dog. And nothing proves it was a pitbull.

I don't "love" pits any more than other breeds. I just don't blindly hate them like so many miscers on here do because of media hype. Not saying they aren't capable of damage, or that they aren't more prevalent attacks, but there are reasons for that beyond "breed of peace" which anyone with half a brain could deduce if they took the time to think about it. Just like anyone who's worked with multiple breeds of dogs for any extended period of time will tell you that any breed is capable of being unpredictably vicious or aggressive.

Just one major difference... people very seldom suffer serious injuries when a dachshund bites them, let alone death. 99.9% of the time, a bite from a dog like that is more of an annoyance than anything else. A pitbull attack on the other hand is ALWAYS a very dangerous situation. But go ahead and just ignore that, because apparently getting nipped by an ankle-biting dog is the same thing as pits snapping and tearing kids/females/the elderly/soyboys apart.

own 3 dogs. two yorkies and a English bulldog. the little yorkie have bit my daughter before while the 70 lb bulldog is my daughters pillow, mattress, toy, horse, llama and all those things she calls him when she plays with him. never lose my sight out of them when they are playing and also I am strong enough to pick up the little **** and smash him against the wall and would not hesitate to decapitate him is he were to lock its jaws on my children.
I think if you want to own a powerfull breed of a dog then you should be able to pass a test and also be capable of restraining that dog.

What about from the CDC? BTW they stopped collecting breed info for dog attacks in the early 2000's due to the amount of work taken to accurately get the info. So any data from that point on is conjecture, which may or may not be accurate.

I find that this is a big part of the problem with pit owners (I am not accusing you of this train of thought, just saying)

It seems that a large number of them want a pit because it makes a statement on what kind of person they are...THEY can control the most dangerous breed of dog. Pits that have attacked have had owners that were not capable or dominant enough.

The bottom line is, that if your pit wants to attack (for whatever reason in that moment), there ain't sh*t you are going to be able to do about it unless you've got a gun in your hand when it happens.

I think is also because pit puppies can be had for $100 on CL.
if pits were 1700 or 2100 or more like other prestige breeds then I think that would filter out who can and cannot properly own and care for a pit.

Cant stand pits. At least when it attacks your own child, you are responsible. I hate it when I take my little kids and some pit owner is letting that thing run around without a leash, seriously want to shoot it with a gun.

This is so stupid. I was bit by our family Terrier when I was growing up (6-8 y/o), but it nipped once and walked away. I was also stirring the pot and I'll bet I deserved it.

If you wonder why bites like that don't make the news vs the pits who attack and do not let go then you're just ****ing stupid. The pit line has been ruined by trash humans. Look at the videos where they will sit on a rope shaking it with all 4 legs off of the ground. Yeah, sure, it's part of training, but that's the way they behave when it's a human. They're extremely powerful and do not know when to stop. It's because they frickin love it. The breed loves to bite and tug. I've been around multiple pits and they're all good most of the time. I somewhat agree with some of the guys in here because they truly are sweet dogs... but you can't change some things. All dogs have the potential to bite, but when a chitbull bites they are just insatiable.

My Australian acts like an Aussie... if you run he will nip at legs and try to herd you. He's never been on a farm, but it's in his blood.


Pit owners can say whatever they want, but they lack self discipline that nearly every other breed does. Cope all you want.

I also want to point out about this data, that there were FAR more rotweillers in the US at the time, and far less Pit bulls. On a per-dog basis, pit bulls were more likely to be involved in a fatal biting or attack several times over.

Hate to stereotype, but it never surprises me to see the owners of pitbulls, they are almost always relatable to each other.
