Help me understand where you're getting your percentages from, just trying to clear it up.

Even so if you divide it by half they're still about equal. Plus the stats don't account for any other factors that might play into a fatal attack.

Like I said, I'm not saying they aren't dangerous dogs, but they aren't the only one so this witch hunt for pitbulls and pitbull owners is ridiculous.

at least she changed her mind. what seems even more dumb than pits are pitbull lovers. they can straight up mail a child or other animals and they will still have excuses for those things. I have never witnessed such careless dog owners. They treat those dogs like they're newborn puppies. They exercise zero caution with them because they "would never hurt anyone". I own small dogs and I maintain a good eye on them. You never know. I don't think I have known any other large breed owners who are so reckless with their pets.

With all due respect, I gotta disagree here. Any animal that does that to a child, an infant of our species, needs to be put down.

This child died because of the aggression of this animal. Best to attempt to prevent any future aggressions.

Where is all this hate coming from? Pitbulls have a bad rep but if you're a dog person and you're not a ghetto kunt, surely you know normal people with a pitbull? Pitbulls from normal families are normal dogs and tbh I'm not too hot on dogs and so far I've had the best experiences with pitbulls.

You can never trust any animal alone with a child either way. Pit, lab, german shep, belgian malinois, whatever.

If you sarcastically say 'it's the owner not the dog', I just assume you've never raised a dog and have never seen the difference between between a normal and a bad owner.

Also just wondering: why aren't people putting the total attack numbers into context by also pointing out how many pits there are compared to other dogs. Pits are popular with ghetto retards. Raise your dog properly, he'll be a proper dog.

fair enough, but what standard are they using to determine the 6x? what source say a pitbull kills a human once every 17 days?

continuing on that, this article is written by someone who admits they are pro-pitbull ban, so there's a level of bias to be expected. The article also does not differentiate between the 4 types of "pitbull", so again lumping them together. Now take into account this quote
“Of the 5,770 dogs involved in fatal and disfiguring attacks on humans occurring in the U.S. & Canada since September 1982, when I began logging the data, 4,043 (70%) were pit bulls; 4,874 (86%) were of related molosser breeds, including pit bulls, Rottweilers, mastiffs, bull mastiffs, boxers, and their mixes. Of the 602 human fatalities, 326 were killed by pit bulls; 91 were killed by Rottweilers; 461 (75%) were killed by molosser breeds. Of the 3,532 people who were disfigured, 2,571 (73%) were disfigured by pit bulls; 3,050 (87%) were disfigured by molosser breeds. Pit bulls–exclusive of their use in dogfighting–also inflict more than 70 times as many fatal and disfiguring injuries on other pets and livestock as on humans, a pattern unique to the pit bull class. Surveys of dogs offered for sale or adoption indicate that pit bulls and pit mixes are together less than 7% of the U.S. dog population; molosser breeds, all combined, are 9%.”
326 killed by pitbulls. say we divide in 4 for each breed, that puts them below rottweilers again. Molosser breeds (aka mastiff and other similar breeds commonly regarded as gentle giants) make up the most fatalities and disfigurements. Now i'm sure there are more molosser breeds than there are of the 4 "pitbulls" so if were were to divide those up, they would be even lower. But if we're going to lump them together like this author does, then why are molosser breeds not at the top of the ban list? They are significantly larger, have higher fatalities and disfigurements, and not only are people NOT wary of them, but they have somehow earned the term "gentle giants" despite these statistics proving otherwise.

again to reiterate, I don't think these dogs AREN'T dangerous. Just that if properly raised and handled they can be as safe as another dog of a different breed.

this I will agree with assuming the animal has interacted with humans and children before without issue (IE the case of this pitbull)

You can't blame a wild animal for following it's instincts tho.

Well, you CAN blame the animal. The animal attacked, doggo did something bad. The owner might be responsible for the dog's behaviour but that doesn't change the fact that the dog should have contained himself.

Either way it's a fact that scumbags like pitbulls because they look mean and popular scum kunts had pitbulls too so they want to emulate that. Those kunts want a mean dog, so they raise it that way and that generates a lot of bad doggos. In Europe that problem exists as well, but to a lesse extent. I've seen proper normal families with pits there all over. Dogs were totally normal doggos.

I also happen to have a job where I nneed to break into homes to repo/seize goods. And regardless of the dog, I judge the chance of a bite by the house I'm at and not the breed. Big dog in a scummy appartment? Better pepper my angus. Normal neighbourhood? No problem most of the times. I even know how the dog will be in 95% of the cases just by checking if the person I'm after has a trashy name.

I mean the animal is at fault, sure you can blame em. But what exactly are you blaming them for? following instincts?

TO clarify, the "can't blame" part was for wild animals. Not domesticated animals. I said I agree for animals that interact with humans in a docile manner. For domesticated animals, you are correct. And I also agree with the previous sentiment that domesticated animals who attack humans should be put down. We domesticate them so that they coexist alongside us, not treat us as slaves for food, then treat us as food when the mood comes.

I remember one time I was in me mum’s car waiting for her and this lady was walking her dog. She walks past me and this pitbull bolts out of the Bifrost and attacks her dog, her dog was getting rekt and I thought about helping for a split second then thought to myself I don’t like to be bitten n said naw. Later after her dog is saved she walks back in my direction and yells at me for not helping

I've only witnessed one dog attack in my life and it involved a pitbull. An older women was walking two shih tzu and another women was walking a pitbull. The pitbull broke away from her and ripped one of the two little dogs up to shreds. The pitbull owner ran over and started screaming saying her dog's never done something like that and she doesn't know what got into him. She was able to pull him off before he got to the other dog. The women with the pitbull had tattoos on her face, not really relevant, I just find it interesting that breed seems to attract people who want to put on a tough image, but they'll always tell you how harmless those dogs are.

I know the breed is outlawed in a lot of places, at the very least there should be muzzle laws for dogs like that. I always carry bear mace now when I go out to places where people let their dogs run around, just in case something like that happens again.

Bro these miscers are a bunch of bandwagon *******s. I’m a dual traded engineer who owns two pits and grew up with them. Never had any act people aggressive. And around these parts there are no pitbull maulings like always seen on these forums. We literally have more husky or lab attacks here then pitbulls. As well anytime a pitbull breed is thrown under the bus around here those idiots are quickly informed from all the supporters.
No question if that dog mauled a baby it should be put down. But the breed is not at fault. Regardless of the dog it should not be left with a child , as well if you can’t control your dog of any breed you should not have it. I read a local news post of a boxer dog who attacked a small mix breed not long ago. The woman owner could not get her dog off. Bystanders were the only reason she was able to break up the dogs. That woman could not control a boxer, which is another stronger breed. If you can’t control a dog don’t have one. There are many strong breeds out there , German Shepard’s were used for all kinds of tasks even used in war days for keeping people in line. I don’t talk bad about them , no rottis , nor Doberman’s or any other dog. Sure would a German Shepard shag me up if it attacked me ? Yes it would. But I won’t attack the breed or call for it to be banned like a low iq high test brain like found on here.

Feels bad for the idiots. But no question the dog in this story should be put down if it attacked a kid. My dogs always treat babies or small kids very sensibly and always play lighter around kids. They know they are delicate.

The reason why pits should be banned is because they have a higher potential to cause extreme damage than say a chuahua. They are also easily accessible by chit tier human beans. That's why you ban them over a German Shepard where the owners are not chit tier and they are much more expensive on average.
