I bet you have a 3 maxed out cards with $1,000.00 limits and you call your parents, 'roommates'.
Cash or Debit card for the win. You can buy whatever you want with either one if you have the coin. And unless you travel for a living, travel bonuses are for peasants. Wow free airline tickets to Houston every two years, woohoo.

I have $2500 in points just from using 4 of my Chase cards. One card has 5% cash back in certain categories quarterly. One card has unlimited 1.5% cash on everything. Another card has 3x the points on travel/restaurants. Last card has 5% cash back on Amazon/Whole Foods and 2% on gas. When you use them correctly you can get back a lot of points. But if you're going to boohoo about using 4 different cards then it isn't for you. Plus I have all these cards in my Samsung Pay account and I just swipe to what card I want to use for that purchase.
You also sound like my wife. She only uses her debit card lol. Jakes on her.

Hmm, credit cards entice you into buying a lot of things you may not need and then they entice you into traveling with the points.
Imo, not having to drive and travel is one of the best luxury. It beats having a heavy metal card any day of the week.

nothing except pay and wait, although there's no prime advantage above 760
my older brother had a super high credit score very early because he was an authorized user on a sears card from 1978 lol
i think fico removed the advantage of authorized user status recently though

it's a risk assessment
what makes you look risky? opening a bunch of accounts, new inquiries, high utilization on a per card or general basis.
imagine what the credit of an old fukk like me looks like. I have paid off student loans. paid off car loans. a mortgage (for the time being hehe). 4 old credit cards. zero late pays. zero inquiries.
i used to have 6 credit cards but two were closed due to inactivity. i would be at 850 i'm sure were it not for that.

incidentally, i did sub prime auto loan collections about 14 years ago and i saw a lady's credit report who had a fico score of 300. literally as low as you could possibly have. i was strongly tempted to print it out and take it home srs lmao
100% of the accounts were in default. there were 3 full pages of inquiries. it was absolutely incredible
she still got that auto loan though and walked away from the payments of course lol

I have a Discover card and AMEX blue miles card both 10 years old still showing open on my credit report
I haven't used either of them in several years.
You don't need to use a card to reap the benefits
You don't need to swipe the AMEX plat card to take advantage of the $200 uber credit, $200 airline credit, Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Lounges, $100 Saks Fifth Ave credit, etc
You don't need to swipe the AMEX Hilton Aspire to take advantage of the Hilton Diamond Status, free annual weekend night, $250 airline credit, $250 Hilton resort credit
You don't need to swipe the AMEX SPG Luxury to take advantage of the Gold status, free annual night at 50k point rooms, $300 Marriott hotel credit
etc
etc
etc
I literally use only 2-4 credit cards on the regular basis to maximize return on regular spending categories (gas, restaurants, groceries, etc)
The rest stay in my sock drawer where they passively give me benefits that I can take advantage when I fly or travel

Only thing that limits me is that AMEX allows you to have maximum 5 credit cards but unlimited charge cards (Plat/Gold card)
Chase has a strict 5/24 rule (if you signed up for 5 credit cards in the last 24 months [business and charge cards don't count] with Chase or any other bank then they deny your application)
I started signing up for business cards to take advantage of the sign up bonuses...just make up a business name as a sole proprietorship that makes $1k annual revenue...approved instantly. Get the bonus....wait 12 months...cancel the card.
I have enough miles to fly to Europe and back several times now through Delta and American Airlines

Spacious, chic, and luxury. You can take a shower or get a free massage before your flight.
AMEX are opening more of these lounges around the major U.S. airports and also starting to get some in international airports
Priority Pass lounges can be somewhat poverty compared to Centurion. The advantage is that almost every airport has a priority pass lounge which almost always has some sort of free food and alcohol. I tend to notice that overseas airports have much much nicer lounges. The Priority Pass lounge in Incheon Airport was incredible.
Side note: If you are flying Delta that day. You have access to any Delta Sky Lounge if you are AMEX Platinum card holder
