I could imagine, a high level nurse that lives in an expensive area who has no life and just works all of the time. A nurse that just works 40hrs a week isn't going to make 1/3 of that.

Most nurses have mental issues as the job is very demanding and stressful.

- Shift work
- Difficult patients
- Difficult family members
- Colleagues with significant mental strain from demanding work
- Cleaning sick people
- Looking after elderly people
- Dealing with death, terrible diseases and accidents

pretty sure most nurses don't make that amount srs

i have 3 nurses in the family. 2 make no more than your average office worker

the exception being the 3rd, who is a murse and makes very good money, but also works his arse off , picking up OT, and getting as many certifications as he can.

the other 2 nurses are female btw

Most of the responses ITT are correct. Only a traveling nurse could approach that and I don't think they'd even get to $160k. Maybe in Cali or NYC. Most non-charge nurses will top out in the $80-$90k range and then just get regular COLAs.

Still a great income to education ratio.

The hours i agree with but the salary is on par. And we still have NA's so that takes the load off the nurses. Most nurses have desk jobs while others are on the actual floor. It's all different than in the past. The job is rather easy. It's the hours like you said, that gives you a beating.

The hours? 3 12hr shifts are killing hours now? Hell, many people routinely put in 60hrs work weeks and get zero overtime.

No, nurses do not do that. It wouldn't make sense to pay someone over 30 dollars an hour to wash a patient lol. They have nurse assistants and techs that do that type of patient care. Nurses manage the care and do the more advanced things.

Everybody likes to think that others with average jobs make less then them. It's called cope.

But anyways how much overtime is he working you always have to factor that in. What you make in a year should be based on a 40 hour work week not an 80 work week.

In my time I've realized that some people just love to work. They actually want to be there 80 hours a week. Then there's other people like me that value free time and want to work less then 40 not more.

Than you also have to factor in that a lot of people lie. You can't just take everyone at their word.
