Tough call. Imagine walking up to the scene and you see another black guy standing next to them. It's possible if you try and intervene that other guy will attack you. But I agree the moment that black guy tries to get him off people should have ran in to help.

The thing is if you live in a big city long enough you'll see enough of this going down with random bums and drunk people. It just isn't worth it unless you have multiple people to back you up.

when I first got out of college, my buddy had his beamer broken into during broad daylight in the lot of a four-plex

three guys from the house saw some dude rummaging through his car to get it started. all three of us ran out including myself, ready to throw down, no fuks given

This is a good example of why legal carry should be everywhere. Only criminals had guns in that situation.

Nope. I understand not wanting to risk your livelihood. It's smart.

But at 1:35 as soon as I hear "I can't breath" I'm getting behind black hoodie, rear neck choking him and wrapping him up.

It's not like dealing with black hoodie alone would be difficult if you get behind him. But his 2(not sure why everyone is saying 3) buddies hanging around would jump in probably. If I know this going in, when I'm choking hoodie out, I'm rolling onto my back with him to get him set up on top of me. Use him as a shield from the other two until hoodie is out. Just choke him out and tank the side blows that would be the most likely retaliation from the accomplices. Because it's him specifically that I'm trying to remove from the equation. On account of he's the most likely out of everybody involved to kill somebody, getting him out is the main priority, all I need is about 10 seconds.

Also, I really don't think the other 2 guys would have jumped in, at least red hoodie. He seemed to be hesitant to be in the situation. He even tried to break it up(failed miserably) and told by standers "I honestly can't stop him". During the early stage of the fight, he seemed to even linger in the street to make sure they didn't roll/sprawl into oncoming traffic. The 2 friends/accomplices also were most likely not aware of the lengths black hoodie would go. Like the head stomp. When black hoodie finally got the top position on the victim and started delivering blows to a unconscious mans head, that's when red hoodie attempted to break it up.

They even seemed to start to dispute over something before the video ended, and the other friend is nowhere to be seen. Dipped out, maybe? Seems like the 2 friends were not entirely on the same team as black hoodie.

Dealing with multiple assailants is close to impossible when ALL OF THE OPPOSITION is confident and committed. You're not going to EVER beat 3 people by yourself with just grapples if they commit to the attack. And even if you're a striker(Muay Thai, kickboxer), that's still pretty damn difficult to do, most can't. The people who can win un-even/solo odds fights are usually the size of Brock Lesnar lol.

Hard to accurately predict the outcome, honestly. And all of this is really just my 5min analysis of a 3min long situation. Unfair.

It’s not being inadequate, it’s valuing your own life. It was extremely hard to watch that video and I wish someone would have helped but if someone doesn’t want to get involved with what looks like 2 gangbangers beef then I can’t blame them. You don’t know what would happen.

it's very obvious the right thing to do here is to intervene, noone is arguing that

however, there is a difference between intervening because you're an idiot and intervening because you understand the risk involved but appreciate the worth of the intervention

all these fuks claiming to be from detroit and willing to help have never truly been in harms way. Being witness to your own fragile mortality is an experience that will make you understand and even empathize with people who do not act in these scenarios.

Anything else is all bluster.

Makes it a lot more tempting to steal a car if you wont get shot.

The vast majority of people are not going to get involved (or are even capable) to stop a street fight.

I don't understand how someone could film that and leave the guy there, seems like there should be legal consequences for filming an attempted murder.

The footage can be used as evidence for the attempted murder though? It’s a pretty strong fuking case when you have a full video with a clear image of the criminal.

Your reading comprehension is potato. I already said I wouldn't feel comfortable getting into a scrap with a guy who just pounded somebody's skull into the pavement over something I have zero involvement or knowledge of the situation period.

So where did I claim to be some fearless warrior?

The guy with the balls was the one who stepped in. But after that, it's easier and easier for every person who decides to help. It's obvious these people felt it was wrong and they kept screaming "stop stop" but when one guy came to do something nobody supported him.

And I HAVE had a gun pointed at me before. You think you're the only one in a country with the right to bear arms? Guess what happened? Somebody saved me through intervention.
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

To clarify: Your previous post talked about 'Misc politics' and 'bluffing'. It's not just a facade, or a charade, or e-statting or whatever. It's supposed to be that you and me care (even a little bit) about people who are not in our immediate tribe enough to prevent them from getting their heads stomped on while they are on the ground. Now if 'stepping in' as a group - I'm not saying everyone has to go Rambo - is such an incredible risk, then there's a question here about how much support law enforcement need.

If citizens themselves can't provide enough security in their immediate surroundings then law enforcement need a fukkton more support. And then they'll provide an adequate level of security for these people who are too scared to take 1 guy off of someone else.

Nowhere am I saying that someone should just rush in YOLO, but when that guy had his foot near the offender's head...that's the perfect time for someone to get his back. Instead, people stood there. And I hate hearing people commenting "well, oh my gosh....he's gonna kill him!!" - yeah, stand there and do nothing, sack of societal chit. It's the passive nature of so many people in society these days that enables people like that.

Whatever happened to the Neighborhood Watch? Having one another's back? Or is that only for those living in gated communities now?

Considered this scenario. A different lock/hold might be better. One that disables an arm possibly? Either way, I'm gonna have to tank some hits for a short time. But that short time could feel like an eternity with a knife in play.

Solid point.

It’s illegal by law to not do anything in a situation like this here in Norway. Baffled by this vid srs

Most of you gay mother fukers talkin bout how you're gonna choke the guy out wouldn't even stop your stride to watch the fight for more than a few seconds.

No way am I stepping in to help someone that looks like they are involved in some low life thing when I could just as easily end up getting knocked out and my head stomped while people watch. If another person was around to help pull him off or if it was a straight up innocent person then that might be different

I would've tackled, pushed, or kick the guy and run away. No way im going to stand by and watch the dude punch him repeatedly when he's already out.

It's illegal to carry a gun in San Francisco. It's the only place where you're told in actual CCW classes (by police officers) to never admit you're concealed carrying and to never, ever draw your weapon in San Francisco. You'll be arrested, never see your weapon and be charged with felonies for it.

You're probably not going to get shot stepping in where you live.
