Is it hard for you to keep up? Just because you barely can doesn’t mean that you’re intellectual for actually being able to.

yah. everything from s5 onwards kinda sucks cuz tho and is inconsistent with the lore cuz they extinguished GRRM's book material and the writers are incompetent without the main man holding their hands

I was the same way. But, GOT is not a hobbit movie. It is nothing like a hobbit movie. Not even remotely close. I put off watching it too. I think there was like 4 or 5 seasons out before I started watching it. My buddy told me to watch it. I watched the first episode and I didn't feel it so I didn't watch episode 2. Then a few month later my buddy told me to give it another shot and to watch just the 1st season. I did so and after the first season I was interested. After the red wedding I was absolutely hooked.

Its great. i was in the same boat. im not into LOTR either so didnt think GOT would be any good but it really is so good. However be warned, it takes about 4 episodes to get hooked as there are so many characters and story lines to introduce you to. One thing i liked about it was that there was little or no fantasy stuff in the first series or two like dragons, so it was easier to still be emersed in it and not remember you are watching fiction,

Vikings is great too. A bit easier to get into as it get right into it the first episode.

The first several episodes are very slow and not the best. It picks up. It had to start like that though.

You don't have to like LOTR. It's not similar at all other than it is a fantasy setting. There is a crap ton of betrayal, murder, sex, humor, and heartbreak. The pacing is great and you will look forward to every episode. There's also incest, a midget, zombies, and some dragons. Don't look up anything GOT related online or you will be spoiled.

Go in blind and report back tomorrow. Inb4 you finished season 1.

Put it this way. I hate every Lord of the Rings movie. Walked out of the theatre in the first one. Seen parts of the others on cable and laugh and turn the channel after ten mins. Gay as fukk.

GoT is nothing like those nerd boy movies. So much better in every way.

Game of Thrones is way more mainstream focused then LOTR. Watch it. You'll like it. Everyone likes the damn show

Edit: I wish I could go back and watch it for the first time. Those 1st 4 seasons were so good. 5-7 ain't half bad either

Only show I have watched fully, usually I quit tv shows after 1-2 episodes. Definitely prefer movies to TV shows.

6 episodes? Hell no.

No spoilers:

The river swordfight that ended badly, the window watching, the bitch slaps, tits. Wanna talk about worst? Lets go with the first few episodes of season 5, anything sand snake related (except for that short haired one's its omfg) and seasons 6+7.

If any of you haven't rewatched the entire series, you must. After season 6 and before 7 came out, I rewatched all 6 seasons with the subtitles on and it was absolutely epic. This would especially be the case for the people who haven't read the book. You miss out on a lot of details and hidden messages in conversations your first time through. Absolutely epically written.

Ok, I’ll give it a chance. I have to get back on third shift schedule tonight so I have a lot of idle hours ahead of me. I have to finish a book I’m reading as well- I’m only halfway through and It’s taking me forever to get through it.

You have to give it your absolute undivided attention. There aren't much gap fillers in the show and fluff. Every conversation is very important. Just missing one scene can throw you off big time. It's not something you watch while flipping through IG or having a conversation with someone.
