Turns out police were able to track the 2 "persons of interest" shown on surveillance footage who Smollett claimed attacked him. Both persons of interest are black and one is an actor who appeared with Smollett on Empire.

Smollett and the 2 persons of interest are being interrogated by Chicago PD today. Police want to get a confession from the persons of interest before going public with charges on Smollett.

So yeah, if this is true, then he is pretty phucked. And we can add another obvious hate crime hoax to the long list of such hoaxes (almost all of which target white Americans as the perpetrators of the imaginary crimes).

two things that would make me think he made it up:
-someone yelling "this is maga country" in the middle of Chicago. not likely, no matter how redneck.
-lack of prominent black chicagoans, or many black people in general standing behind him. perhaps they smelled the bs right away.

I thought the same but lets not forget to mention that it was roughly 20 to 30 degrees BELOW Fking ZERO in the middle of the night as well.

Another thing I immediately noticed if someone gets beat up there would be large swelling and bruising around the injury.

In this pic post assault he looks like he used a razor to cut his face (dat dere vanity shining through he didn't want to actually damage his career).

A source familiar with the records provided by the Empire star states that Smollett downloaded his phone activity into a spreadsheet and then deleted certain phone calls before handing over the records. “He did the [detectives’] job for them because then they only had to focus on the numbers he deleted.”
