Death rate per 100k for officers is 12.5. Literally 1/10th that of loggers. 1/5th that of roofers, and 2/3rds that of basic construction labor.


As for being easy, no physical labor. And how taxing can it be mentally when you need more education to be a plumber than an officer.

I have good friends who are cops and we snap chat back in forth all day, they spend half the day messing around. Even take naps behind grocery stores.

Of course there are challenges, but the hero worship contributes to a level of arrogance you shouldn't carry for your actual qualifications/accomplishments.

How often is that something you do honestly?

Is it more physical than a cell tower technician climbing 300 ft ladders? Is it more physical than a ups driver loading 500 packages a day?

With every reply you furthur prove my point. Look how much your identity is tied up in your supposed career. We all have job on here, but you find a way to mention yours in at least half of your 45k posts. Hell, you've had time to make 45k posts. Your job isnt that hard. No offense.

You guys are mixing up adjunct lecturers and professors. Instructing a class is second priority, their research is first priority. The research aspect and dealing with research grants plus academic politics is incredibly stressful. I would agree that the adjuncts are smug

Got into a debate with some teachers on IG during the LAUSD strike last month. A lot of them talked about the "long hours" and "taking work home" being things that nobody else could understand. Average pay in the district tops $80k per year. Then one talked about "only getting pay checks 10 months a year" as if it should matter how the pay is distributed.

That's ridiculous. You can't be on the track without having done research and publication. You need to double check whether their official title is professor or lecturer. If they sat on their ass for the past 40 years, they probably have tenure and usually those type of people have put in a lot of work to get where they are.

If you really want a teacher to show their ignorance, tell they they're making 80K for only having to work 10 months. They'll inevitably reply, "We only work 10 months, but we only get paid for 10 months", completely missing the point that they only have to work 10 months, yet still receive what would be a decent salary for someone working 12 months.

Sales is hard and is in fact the life blood of many companies. There's a reason sales pays high percentage commissions. If it were easy and nonessential, why doesn't everyone do it and get rich? Why don't companies pay bare minimum commissions?

Teachers are generally losers who couldn't do anything else but they shouldn't be included because everyone already knows this.

Being a doctor is about being a good grinder or being female/URM, not about being smart. However, they do deserve both respect and high salary. Being a doctor takes years of education/residency. By the time they start earning money, they've spent hundreds of thousands on schooling and given up many years they could've been in the workforce. Once you account for this, doctors are underpaid rather than overpaid.

The majority of cops are stupid losers who like to throw their weight around to cope for their shortcomings (that's why many of them are manlets, get it haha). However, you have to realize there's a lot of scum people out there. Cops provide a valuable service because the reason you don't have to put up with scum BS is because the cops deal with scum BS. That said, cops are paid to deal with criminals, that's the obvious job description, it's not like it's fine print. How are you going to complain about the job and then take the salary and pension? If it's so bad, do something else. The bottom line is cops deserve 0 sympathy because they disrespect everyone, not just criminals.

UPS drivers don't load the packages, they deliver them.

And being a cop, especially in a busy district, can be physical. You're going to job, to job.

Dealing with a hostile crowd, after someone is **** by a gang-banger, isn't actually easy.

Those saying teachers and professors hit the nail on the head. The vast majority of people in those professions are there because they didn't want to get a real job.

And any sales profession is a joke as well. Good products sell themselves, poor products need to trick people into buying them. At best, you do nothing but shuffle papers as a pathetic middleman.
