I can't believe some GM's are in the 3000 ratings. I've been stuck at 800 for like eternity now.
Can't get higher than 850.

Well, live top rating today is about 2830 for Carlsen, and how top was about 2870. Internet is a bit higher on top.

Chess is like a language, we noobs speak with a heavy accent, don’t know many words, we are like adults who are learning a new language, it’s rough. Almost all grandmasters were already strong as kids, thus they have no accent, they speak the language of chess, they see tactics instantly, while we are like: “papa... mama... poo poo... a pencil! A table!” While native speakers are writing essays. So of course it takes time to make any progress. The fastest progress you can make is by reading a general chess book or two, and solving a few hundred tactical puzzles over and over until you can do all few hundred instantly the moment you glance at the position. Then you’ll already be about 1800.

In a field in which I specialize for a living I’m top level. I can’t tell you how long it took, and how much work was involved. it took decades, and several hours daily. Now I’m a lazy f*ck, i’m Living comfortably off my previously gained skill, but gaining that skill was a massive life long effortSo, don’t be so upset if you’re not 1900 or whatever, those people take lessons and read books and go to chess clubs etc.

I’d start with some YouTubes, then maybe Seirawan’s Winning Chess Openings, and just read the e4.e5 chapters. Or how about Ginger GM’s youtube and DVD on Black Lion (aggressive version of Philidor defense), there are many options. But yeah, focus should be tactics and general chess knowledge from some big general chess book or teacher.

When will it be my turn. It's great hearing that the hard work paid off. Currently i'm having a mental crisis myself because i'm struggling with math in college and i legit have zero confidence so i'm like: Am i suppose to pursue this or drop out and become a mcdonalds employee for life.

Also awesome chess analogy. I am doing the puzzles but like you said: it's not like i can just glance at it and see it right away.
The intermediate / advanced puzzles are near impossible. Chess is a lot of fun though, i'm glad i got into it thanks to this thread and everyone in here.

Gotta find what you’re interested at and good at, brah. I sucked major cawk in math too. Was never going to be of any profession requiring math, but I did good at something else. But hell if you really need math in college I’d youtube and google the sheit out of it, and maybe get a hot female tutor mmmm...

The harder puzzles you gotta work backwards. Go to final position and click one move back, then it becomes a very easy one move puzzle. Visualize that move and final position. Then go back one more move! Now you got a two move puzzle which will be super easy since you already did the last part of it. And so on.
