Aw man there was a thread on just the other day with "studies" supposedly proving that women want the top 20% of men- but men find the vast majority (like 80%) of women attractive. Oh well.

Or, you could also argue that Tinder tends to attract picky women. But I don't find either argument convincing. These dating sites have tens of millions of users and have become very mainstream. It may not be perfectly representative of the dating pool, but it is probably very close.

We've also seen the similar numbers from other hookup sites such as OK Cupid.

People adapt to suit themselves. The 80% of women who want 20% of men will get sex, but often don't get relationships. Many get bitter. Then they settle for relationships with the 80% of men they didn't want. Those 80% of men are bitter from not having sex and bullchit their feelings so they can have serial relationships/make up for sex they never had. This makes those 80% of women even more bitter. At this point both men and women consider miscing. And the stupidity goes on...

For men, the face constitutes the majority of attractiveness to women. You can't significantly improve your face aside from:
1. Weight loss
2. Facial surgery

Superficially you can improve it by tanning and beard growth, but aside from that it's very limited. It's practically impossible to go from a face in the lower echelons of attractiveness to one in the high end without surgery. It's not 'easy' to become a true top tier male.
