I just spent some time reading through the conversations on this thread because I've stumbled across a lot of success on Tinder in the recent month (I've focused a lot on aesthetics/lifestyle/fashion and pics since October). I have some questions but feel it'd be in good form if I share my method first. This consistently funnels to ~50 matches and 2-3 dates per week (more 6's than 7's to be honest - but working on improving aesthetics more):

-Get Tinder Gold (can't comment on Plus)
-Keep Tinder Notifications ON! I turned them off and my matches went down significantly. Although notifications are on, they're muted cuz that chime is an embarrassment - no effect from muting
-Swipe your max a couple times per day. I'm in LA and limit my age range/distance from my house so that I can get through my stacks within 5-10 minutes.
-Only swipe on girls worth your time
-Start conversations very basic with every match and never bother following up if they don't respond
-Unmatch stale connections after 2 weeks of no response
-Get their numbers as soon as the conversation feels like its been active for a few exchanges with the intention to meet
-IRL, always be on the lookout for good photo ops because on Tinder, "Content is King"
