Who tf flies first class and then let their kids fly coach? Why does it even matter when you have hundreds of millions of dollars?
Probably didn't want to see/hear their kids during the flight.

Good on him for not employing his kids. Let them go out into the world and achieve **** on their own, if they want to work for him become good at what they do and apply like anyone else.

Why in the world would people feel he's "gone too far" for banning nepotism?

It's harsh, but fair. I think too many middle-class people fail to teach their kids thattheyhave money and their children have earned nothing - yet - and it's only worse if you're genuinely rich.

I don't think I'd do the same thing, but I get why he's doing it.

I agree with not putting children in first class but "can't take it with you" attitude of boomers sickens me. Imagine being so selfish that you refuse to leave anything to your kids. I can agree with not spoiling them while they're young but once they are adults all your doing by leaving them nothing is being selfish. Its just pure boomer hubris to think otherwise. It is a peasant attitude that has been pushed by 1%ers to make sure that their children will always have a leg up on the nouveau riche. If give your children a leg up on the competition, in the form of capital, they will rise quicker than the rest. They'll be able to take opportunities like prestigious unpaid internships while their contemporaries have to take jobs unrelated to their fields of study because they need the money. This is such a chitty attitude of "I got mine so fuk everybody else including my own children."

Think there's a legit case that teaching them to earn their own way if they want luxuries is what's best.

If your kid is pitching a fit like they're being abused because they're getting a free trip off mom and dad but the flight is only in coach with the regular people, you're already losing the battle against raising a chitty kid.

It still doesn't make any sense though. Making kids fly coach while they live in your giant mansion and eat the best food 24/7, does not teach them anything about money.
Want them to experience living like regular people? Move to a regular apartment and cook them cheap food and have them wear non designer clothes and have them work a minimum wage chit job.

Not saying they should be lazy and sit on their asses for the rest of their lives but personally I would make life easier overall for them. Why did he amass the fortune in the first place then? To give it all away to a charity when he passes?

I feel the same way about the inheritance, however, I will say this, my buddy's parents are absolutely loaded. They've bought him 2 different houses so far, and he's 28 years old. He's extremely lazy and knows he's getting everything from his parents (including their $5M home) so he doesn't even give a chit.

I don't know the guy, but I have a feeling that none of his kids have to actually worry about anything. I'm sure if they had a real misfortune through no doing of their own (medical issue, start a business and try but go bankrupt, etc...) they wouldn't have to worry about going to the soup kitchen. That is the definition of making life easy for your kids, as their isn't really an option for an uncomfortable or ****ty life outside of causing it yourself (drug addiction or something).

Maybe drifting off-topic, but while I get where you're coming from, I would point out they don't need to be regular people. They need to learn what it takes to excel.

I've seen a lot of kids grow up in poor families who basically just learn the skills to survive being poor and thereby struggle until they die. Learning that there's a better life - and that you will need to put in effort to earn it and be disciplined with your money - is a good thing.

Yet that's my point - the kids are flying somewhere on a jet, for free.Life is already being made easy.

I'm not saying I'd put my kids through the Spartan agoge, but realizing that luxuries aren't handed out for nothing and need to be earned is a virtue.

I don't agree with willing away the family fortune to charity, but I do agree that they need to learn where the baseline is and that things like flying coach are normal and respectable, not hardship. One day the kid should grow up to be a functional person who can handle business travel without whining about needing a lay-flat.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

That said, isn't the sole reason to work being able to afford things and the ability to live a comfortable life?
Isn't most peoples goals to retire early?

I understand not wanting your kids to be entitled lazy bums. But then again, why put your kids through hard work etc if you're rich enough so they can live a comfortable life from the start and do whatever they want?
If i had 10 billion dollars, i don't think i would tell my kids to get a job. Maybe temporarily to show them how difficult it is to acquire money but other than that, not really. I would just definitely make them appreciate the value of a dollar from an early age on.

But if you have kids, the goal should be to give them an optimum life. If you can teach them values without making them do things they don't want, then why won't you?

Becaue flying coach shows the struggles of the average person yet they live in a giant mansion every day?
If you're going the whole coach thing, then don't just cherry pick 1 aspect that only lasts a few hours during the flight.
Make them legit live like average people 24/7.

And if you say it's only to teach them a lesson, then let them fly coach once. So they experienced it.
There's no point in making them fly coach twice or more after that.

I dunno, like i get what hes trying to do but acting like. That saying "you work hard and become wealthy so your kids and fam live a good life" or something along those lines rings a bell here.

Youre wealthy and connected, why act like youre not with your kids. Defaulting to assuming they'll be lazy is dumb too, kyle jenner was born into wealth, but she turned that **** into a billion.

Why not spoil them? Let them inherit ur hard work? **** it you live once, let them enjoy their fathers wealth after hes passed away.

Is the optimum life really being a dysfunctional, unproductive, entitled piece of ****? Even in retirement, I plan to work, just on things thatIwant to work on because I don't have to work on things I don't want to work on anymore.

If I did have kids, I'd probably put the family money into some kind of trust and dole out an income supplement to my adult descendants every year, or use it to provide for fully-paid secondary education at any state school. Something that would help them live right and protect them from having to squander good years on pointless things.

Let's be real, tho. I'm actually going to spend the money flooding the nursing home with hookers and emptying a soft serve ice cream machine directly into my mouth during my final hours.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

When I saw that in "Home Alone", I thought do people really do that? Then on a flight from Paris a couple of years ago, sure enough, mom was up front, and the kids and Chinese nanny were back in cattle class a couple of rows ahead of me.

So you're saying you have to force your kids to get a job and live a regular life, because otherwise they become ''dysfunctional, unproductive, entitled piece of ****?'' Lol.

Just because you want to work after retirement doesn't mean everyone else does.
I rather enjoy my time doing hobbies or explore the world or spend it on whatever i want to spend it on, rather than do work that i don't enjoy for someone else. Every millionaire says the same thing: Time becomes most valuable.
So why waste it doing something you don't enjoy, unless you're talking about doing work like your own business that you find joy in.

Why would you put your kids through the same chit we normal people have to endure if it's optional?
And it doesn't have to be 1 or the other. You can raise perfectly fine kids even if you don't make them get a job.

What a twat.

Why bother even having kids if you think they're nothing but an inconvenience and drain on money? They didn't have any choice in the matter of being born.

What's the point in having hundreds of millions, and not using it to enhance yours and your loved ones time on Earth?

I would buy their homes outright and make sure they had a lifetime monthly allowance that would cover all their basic expenses. This would bring peace of mind to all. They then have the option to work for any extra money they might want.
