Again, your reading comprehension skills are that of a 5 year old. Nobody in here is saying that he's this great leader. We're just saying that he managed to turn his life around from his previous gang-banging days and is introducing new businesses into his hood. Because that's how prosperity works. Locationsprosperwheneconomic prosperityis introduced. How is it introduced? By opening businesses.
He did do charitable work. I've posted examples. He raised awareness on certain issues in his neighborhood. He rallied and organized events in his neighborhood. (inb4 raising awareness doesn't count. I guess charity organizers don't count either, right?)
Even the god damn LAPD director (or whatever his title was) was saddened by his death. Do you think he'd react that way to any random rapper? Hell no. He knew who Nipsey was and what he was about.

And holy hell, how are you still spouting this ****, when I've constantly told you what a ****ing co-working space is and how it works. Like, I've literally schooled your suburban ass on what a co-working space is, yet you continue to live in blissful ignorance and ignore everything that I've posted against your narrative.

Poverty miscers love to flaunt their moral superiority on here. Whenever a thread like this gets made, a bunch of miscers come in with the "nothing of value was lost" comments. The cognitive dissonance is real on here.

Seems like he did his part in glorifying gang life, so that's pretty debatable.

There's tons of people out there combating street violence and trying to divert youngsters from gang life. Lots of ex-gang members. But when they die you'll never know their names. This seems like a case of people boosting someone due to celebrity status.

Here's what it comes down to, had this man stayed home taking care of his kids, would he have been shot down? I doubt it. Instead of making his last song about being a crip, what if he had made it about educating oneself?

Whether he did good or not, he died because of choices he made.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

At risk of getting fully involved in this e-fight, I see what Godfrd is saying. Comparing Nipsey to some laundromat owner is silly when the former was claiming to be an active gang member.

The seeds were definitely sewn for a potentially violent end for this guy. You don't even wear the wrong color shoe laces in the hood unless you want trouble, and here he was making rap songs about it and using C's in his social media posts.

You make a point, but he was making out like if he was at X place instead of Y place, he would still be alive. Yes, he may have had a target on his back from any disgruntled gang members. The fact is that this wasn't a gang-related killing. This was his former friend letting his ego make his judgments for him.

If he was in the middle of a drug deal or something in that line, then is point stands. But he wasn't. He was sewing the seeds for his present and future to be better.

The other fact is, because of his commitment to the community, most gangs respected him. He said in an interview that he can wear certain colors in different areas in South-Central because he was an OG to them.

Fine, even though I think what Godfrd is getting at with "taking care of his kids" means not being a gangster at all. My relatives make similar comments and that's the connotation.

And Nipsey can think the hood loves him, but he doesn't know 100% of gangsters. Even 2pac wasn't immune and he was an icon for black america. He also BARELY associated with street gangs, and still got killed by one.

I heard he owned a laundromat in Slauson. He was giving back a lot to the community.

Damn bro, did I get you all in your feelings now? The **** does taking a picture say to me? I'll fly down to Crenshaw and take a pic in front of the store too. Does that make any difference to you? Will taking a photo make you feel better about yourself?

How does it feel knowing you're so low IQ that you cherry pick different comments and completely misread the rest? I can donate some money to you for reading lessons if you want. I'm sure my 8 year old nephew can help you out.

Again, taking a pic of a store doesn't make you less of a suburbanite, bitch.

So this guy was an active gang member when he got shot? Kind of muddies the waters a bit.

The goddamn LAPD supports the man but the misc can't even give him some credit. I'm not saying he's a saint but he was trying to do some good. But misc gon misc, bunch of insecure losers on this site.

In the nicest possible way, he couldn't have his cake and eat it too. Can't pursue two antithetical aims and expect to succeed in either.

Can't promote something that destroys communities and claim you're trying to invest in or rescue those same communities. So basically his fans/sympathizers are only seeing the good and his critics are pointing out the bad.
