It’s not weird if the woman has ambition professionally and wants to build first her career to be able to focus them on her family when married. I’m engaged to a 29 religious virgin and we pushed our wedding to next summer because she had to finish her PhD and her post doc, it takes a lot of time and dedication for a woman to achieve such level of education so it makes sense to not be able to focus on something else during that time. Because you can’t achieve a PhD very young. A PhD is at least 8 years at the University. Usually PhD students are around their thirties, she graduated at 28 that’s pretty young for her degree.

Yes you do. Which is difficult is having a good PhD and a post doc. Then you submit for a permanent job as a university professor (a chairman when you begin), once you have that permanent position you can have a good easy life, basically you only focus on managing your students, preparing classes, that’s not a lot of work compared to what she was used to. You also manage your job as you wish. This gives a lot of flexibility.

Once married, she will have her permanent position at the U (it’s like a 9-5 job) and I’m an engineer (I will be the one with less flexibility in my job). We want to have kids so she will take the necessary time off work to focus on that once pregnant. Also her goal was to get the permanent position then focus on the family side, she will still work of course but won’t kill herself into it.
