Who wants a Mosin?

Meanwhile, concealed carry is law (and increasingly permitless), optics are better than ever, and the options for accurate, inexpensive, reliable rifles and pistols are better than ever.

AK rifles pre 2005 were way better, cheaper and have gained much value. pretty much any imported guns [beside an AR] have gone up in value if they were made prior to 922r

you must be 21 guns were WAY cheaper across the US decades ago

35.

P10Cs for under $400. 9mm sub guns in the 8s that actually work.

Inflation matters, and 8 MOA rifles aren't interesting.

Meanwhile, you can now get 1000 yard rifles for a couple hundred dollars. (And you can actually hit things with them)

Aero makes great rifle components, and if you want to get into free floated or different barrel configurations right off the bat that's a great company

Also an option:

Complete Lower, $259:https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar1...-carbine-stock

Upper Receiver, $430:https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/m4e...-one-handguard

BCG, $130:https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar1...-black-nitride
Charging Handle, $20:https://www.aeroprecisionusa.com/ar15-charging-handle

Bag and 7x Mags, $80:https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...magazines.html

So, $880? You'll need to find a way to aim the rifle, so either a set of BUIS for $70 (Use code 14nsght:https://shop.opticsplanet.com/magpul...xoCjdMQAvD_BwE) or the Trijicon MRO/Geissele Mount I linked on page 1.

At least LEO in the state basically see that ban as the joke that it is. Sucks that we have it . . . but nobody is going to harass you about 30 round mags unless you are in much deeper trouble with something else.

True, but unfortunately, until you guys take it up in the courts...

Speaking of, why has this not gotten to the 10th circuit court since 2013?

The sheriffs, of all people, are one of the main groups that sued to get it overturned. Last ruling was that the court of appeals upheld the law.

https://gazette.com/news/colorado-co...c4289cf3a.html

The appeals court concluded that the logic for passing a ban on large-capacity magazines was based on a “legitimate governmental interest in public health and safety.” In their opinion, the justices pointed out that there have been 27 mass shootings in Colorado that used large-capacity magazines between 1999 and 2016. That contrasts with 11 mass shootings involving large-capacity magazines in the period between 1967 and 1998, the opinion noted.

Care to guess what will happen with an order shipped to CO? Will they just not provide any of the additional mags/included mag?

Generally, they will leave out the standard capacity mags. You would need to get your own "in compliance with the law" (meaning, if the mags are >15 rounds and you are proescuted, the DA needs to prove you did not own the mags before the ban went into effect).

Everyone who lived through the 90s and early 2ks is looking with rose colored glasses if they think it was better than the salad days of today. Sure, you could buy AKs for ~$300, PSLs for $500 (those have increased in value substantially), Mosins for $60, etc. Unless you're a milsurp collector, it's all kind of moot. Today you can build an AR15 or AR10 for around the same price that will simply be a much better shooter. The only thing I do miss is the surplus ammo...South African 7.62 and Guatemalan 5.56 were both awesome. There's something touching about getting battle packs full of bug crap and half eaten cardboard boxes.

From an investment standpoint, unless you bought machineguns in the 80s, guns are a poor monetary investment.

I still have a bunch of guns from those days, and they're pretty much just wall art at this point. When I actually want to shoot, I want something that I can easily tool up with fun creeper night vision gear and suppressors. Putting that stuff on a Mosin is a non-starter, and putting it on an AK is not really trivial.
