The writing has gone to **** and is a now a stupid parody of what it once was. It would have been an epic ending if the NK showed up and literally wiped absolutely everyone out and we never found out why for two reasons:

1/. It wouldn’t leave any room for the lame **** that’s been happening this season.

2/. It actually makes the White Walkers seem like a dangerous force. With the storyline we ended up with they look like a joke.

That absolutely would have been the best ending. We’ve been waiting for an ending to the show for 8 seasons and gone through so many theories. How much of a twist would it have been if the NK showed up and fuked everyone up with no explanation? Could have had a repeat of the Red Wedding. White Walkers show up at Winterfell and in the first 3 minutes of the episode kill off 5 main characters or something. That’s what the show used to be.
Would have been 100000% better than this chit. My god they destroyed this show. Its beyond redemption in just a few short episodes, fukk bruhs

We kinda knew, but there is no excuse for THIS level of trash. They completely butchered it, not even an ioata of closure or satisfaction to be found. I'm srs when I say that you or I could have written a better ending with zero writing exp or talent, I stand by that.

It's not that bad lmao. This whole season so far is an 8/10. Great battle scenes, lots of fan service with really good character arcs, crazy CGI for a TV show, longer episodes, good political dialogue like seasons old, and surprises that people weren't expecting.

Idk what else you would ask for in a TV show lol

i think i could've but would the audience be happy as well? there are so many ways we could end it.

personally for me what i would have changed in the battle of the long night is some white walker fights near the end, i think i would have had theon and jon fight the night king like darth maul style lmao.

it makes more sense that arya does it sort of. otherwise what would that call back of melisandre mean, it would just be a plot hole. people would look back to that scene and be like well wtf is that lol

if they were going with arya killing the night king though, they should have had her fight the night king with her custom made staff weapon. and then pull out her knife in the battle. or they could have done it with theon + jon + arya vs the night king. would have been the most badass fight

but i enjoyed the episode a lot, still would've changed a lot of things, the main thing i would change is i wanted to see a fight with theon vs the night king so bad.
There is only one Hell: the one we live in now.

Anyone see David Nutter's comment on the farewell between Jon and Ghost?

He basically said that since Ghost is pure CGI, they opted to keep the farewell as simple as possible. So I'm guessing that having Jon interacting closely with CGI Ghost would have either looked weird or required huge resources to pull off decently. If that reasoning doesn't fully satisfy anyone, it really highlights how little we appreciate the amount of work required to shoot and fully execute this chit

People think a TV show has the same budget as a blockbuster movie when it comes to CGI.

Showing Ghost survived the Long Night was already fan service. But I also understand those who think that ending didn't do their relationship justice.

I guess that speaks the story building earlier in the series, but people seriously need to temper their expectations with a healthy dose of reality. The writing issues can surely be attributed to wrapping up a story that GRRM has been writing for almost as long as I’ve been alive but still hasn’t finished. And I wouldn’t doubt that a lot of the other issues can be chalked up to the realities of visual media

Watching the behind-the-scenes stuff for each episode, the amount of work and coordination required to nail a seemingly simple scene is just insane

They wrapped up one of two main action story lines thats been building since the beginning in a SINGLE episode (Fight with the night king/ice walkers). I love GOT but the battle and the speed at which it wrapped up was a HUGE let down in my personal opinion. That should have a been a battle that pitched back and forth that lasted half a season....

HBO ordered 6 episodes, so 6 episodes is all they get to wrap up everything. Almost every episode has movie length this season, but there is only so much time available to both writers and directors to make sense of it all.

I don't get how people know that GRRM struggles for 10+ years now to move the story forward and wrap it up, yet when they have to do it (with the additional element of visual media and production effort, let alone human beings involved), it should be a cake in less than two years.

Enjoy the last two episodes for what they are, and if you don't like it: move on. Its a fukin TV show.

Speaking of not knowing who the lord of storm’s end is, Westeros is feeling very tiny these days. It’s basically just the North and King’s Landing. If D&D actually kept the Young Griff plot line, Dorne, the Reach, and the Stormlands would still be involved. This is part of why I don’t put that much blame on GRRM. There was still plenty of material left in the books to work with that could have prevent some of the issues the show is dealing with now.

I just think the show was better when it was going off the books, the material he originally came up with was very inspired. After DND Took over it all went downhill from there with the writing.

I'm not going to stop watching it because they bait and switch me early on with all the tits.

Actually I think its the other way around: the world is too big for a TV show. Audience doesn't keep up if you talk about Riverrun in one scene and Volantis the next, before cutting to Braavos or the Eyrie.

So you constantly have a struggle: the casual audience wants to see things move along, the nerds and book readers wonder how the fuk does one get from the Iron Islands to King's Landing in what seems like a day or two.

I think we can all understand the accelerated travel issues and can gloss past those. But dumbing down characters or having them not act according to their history just to advance plot is just not a great way to wrap the story up. It should be cohesive and match with the seasons that came before. You can't tell me that HBO wouldn't have allowed more seasons to wrap it up. D&D felt they only needed 2 shortened seasons to finish the story, it is up to them to do it well...to say well budget or well time constraints...screw that, this is the schedule they made.

Dumbing down and depowering characters just to advance the plot in the final season of one of the most talked about shows of all time...of course you are going to face criticism. These guys just suck writing material and it is clear that they have no real understanding of the characters or how to end the story in a way that was consistent with the previous seasons.

How would additional storylines have worked in the truncated schedule we have now?

Man ... I take my stuff back about HBO. I looked up all the articles and interviews from season 6, and apparently the HBO president wanted more seasons, which makes sense given the success.

It's solely on David Benioff and D.B. Weiss that its only 8 seasons, and that its shortened seasons. I can understand that a creative person / writer wants to do something else after 10 years, or that some actors also want out of the contracts, etc., but this makes season 7 and season 8 being butchered look much worse in retrospect, when they had all the canvas they wanted (in terms of air time), but chose to keep it short because they probably ran out of (creative) ink.

As if Rian Johnson hasn't already ruined Star Wars, now these two hacks will wreck it.

I understand what you're saying but that's the reality we have and were always going to have. Actors have been wanting to move onto other projects and some had to get extensions just to do this season.

I can't blame them for this. To Destor's point prior, the time and effort to make this go forward is beyond what we as the audience understand. HBO's Rome and Deadwood suffered the same budget issues and were canceled early bc of it.

Were they going to ve given larger budgets to meet all of these needs? I thought I read somewhere that either Jon or Dany wanted to move to other projects.

I mean this is all very true. A lot of background stuff going on that we the audience aren't really aware of into why this isn't the 10/10 show that it used to be. Still great television tho, and I do feel bad for people who aren't enjoying the season.

When your show has 16-18 Million viewers, no one in their right mind is trying to cancel you.

D&D are fukkin retarded though so they are doing us all a favor.

No, I never defended D&D, I defended the show and understood that with budget and time constraints, most of the chit was inevitable. However, the fact that this crap is self-inflicted ... yeah, I already thought they both are mediocre, but that was really retarded.

Shows the ego's, if they wanted out, why not hand it over to another show runner, lets say after wrapping up The Battle of the Bastards.
Banging in Hong Kong 2017, Europe Roadtrip 2018, planned: Mt. Kilimanjaro 2019. <- never happened, broke my leg, fml
