For a long time I could barely keep that in the bank, bills/child would drain me to the point I had to save the last bit for food and gas. I had a small place and drove a cheap car, didnt have high end clothes or anything. I also couldn't afford health insurance as it would take to much money out of my check. I wasn't even making enough to save. Its rough out there for a lot of people.

Obviously, having a rock solid amount of money stashed away in savings would certainly be ideal. However, I've never understood where all this crap talking about how most younger Gen X'ers, millenials, and now Gen Z's don"t have a substantial amount in savings. You even hear people throw out figures like "You should have 6 months of cash saved *minimum* to maintain your current lifestyle without any income".

But at what point in history, even in America/other western countries, has a majority of people been able to say that losing their jobs wouldn't screw their lives up real quickly if they didn't find something else fast? You'd have to be upper middle class at a minimum while alreadly living a fairly modest lifestyle (for that income level) to be able to stash away 6 month's worth of income that could support your same lifestyle habits with zero changes. Consistently having over 1k in the bank (obviously much easier than 6 months of income) would generally require being middle class, very little debt, and wise spending habits.

The bottom line is, it's simply impossible for most people to meet the higher standards of having several months' income in savings, and it's always been that way. Anyone who tells you that anyone short of upper middle class level income is just an irresponsible idiot is full of crap. No matter what, a vast majority of people will never be anything higher than middle, or even working class. That's just how economics work. You can strive for a stronger middle class, but there will never be a particularly huge percentage of elite rich, or even upper middle class people compared to the lower economic classes in any society. Don't be fooled by the bs socialists tell you that it's as simple as redisributing wealth, or hardcore fiscal conservatives who say all it takes is strapping on your boots and you can attain millionaire status.

Many who file for bankruptcy claim just yesterday they had a great income and led a comfortable life.

Always makes you wonder what they do with their money.

When smoking beggars ask me for 20p for the bus they look at me strangely when I tell them the market in downtown is just a 20 minutes walk away. I mean, I walk to save the bus money..

Being the polar opposite of the average american is a blessing and a curse. I have paid off vehicles, a home with equity, fully funded emergency funds, and i invest weekly. My problem has always been finding a woman who has the same ideals. It's basically impossible from what ive found.

Legally it's hard to make income on your own. You'd have to be illegally making income to survive. Banks know the average cuck can't pay 800 dollar rent while commercially advertising work for 13 an hour. Jobs with degrees at that. There needs to be a change in this system because the dollar is deteriorating rapidly. It's stupid utterly to work 40 hours for a bullchit wage that you're not even able to do anything with besides work and sleep. Slavery doesn't have any color now days. Everyone is here.

have $250k saved and no debt. will hit 300k by the end of the year. 33 y/o. I attribute much of this to being a miscer for most of my career (stave boredom while @ desk job).

I feel like a total bum with 10k+ in the bank cant imagine how does one live from payday to payday without anything saved up. But tbh I dont care for expensive clothes, or the newest phone(mine is like 3 years old now, I bet I can get another 2-3 years out of it), dont even have a car anymore, I used to have one but it makes more sense paying for uber or whatnot if I need to be somewhere in a hurry, I do have a motorcycle tho.

Wow. I can say I am not surprised.

It's almost as if trickle down economics & letting billionaires & lobbyists control your country has concentrated all the wealth beyond the middle & somewhere else...

But they taught you to ape a few funny phrases like cuck & libtard to keep you happy while you vote to keep yourself poor & the 1% rich & they laff it up.

Enjoy the ride!
