A shame that Mumbles Menino isn't alive to see this. To top this off, Chik Fil A should front $1 million to help the parade organizers as kind of an FU to the deceased.

You're right.

But that's not the point of Pride. It's because gays were oppressed for so long and it's only been recently that they've been able to live without persecution. And in some places, they still are persecuted. That's why we have Pride in Western countries, because they're able to celebrate here without being persecuted.

Straight pride parade has nothing to do with celebration and everything to do with "whataboutism".

So in short, Pride has to do with celebrating characteristics that were oppressed for so long.
