I see accidents every single day in SoCal. Or I'll see someone speeding down the freeway just like that. And I'm always getting warnings in my car about people driving on the wrong side of the freeway. I've been in 2 car accidents already and both times the other driver was at fault.

They need to make drivers ed a lot more hard and they need to increase the penalties for DUI.

Man Arrested, (Javier Caldera, 25), (on a felony eluding charge), in Centralia After Leading WSP on Pursuit From Thurston County The Chronicle Nov 26, 2018 An Auburn man was arrested in Centralia on a felony eluding charge after allegedly leading authorities on a vehicle chase starting somewhere in Thurston County and ending on foot in Centralia. A Washington State Patrol spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment regarding what prompted the chase. In Centralia, police were notified at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday of a pursuit heading southbound on Interstate 5. Officers deployed spike strips on the southbound Exit 82 ramp, in case the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Javier Caldera, 25, tried to head into Centralia — which is allegedly what happened, said Centralia Police Department Sgt. Dave Clary. The vehicle drove over the strips, and blew at least one tire, said Clary, and ended up crashing into a nearby fence on Harrison Avenue. Caldera allegedly left the vehicle and ran away. Officers looked around the area for a couple hours without finding Caldera. Clary said officers went to businesses in the area and described the suspect to staff members. One eventually spotted Caldera on foot in the area and contacted police. Officers responded and arrested him without further incident.

I work in insurance in California. Want to guess what percentage of households I speak to have one spouse with no license who still drives daily? At least 20%.

This state is a ****ing joke. I guarantee when more history comes out, this guy should have been locked up/deported for multiple things already, and not just the other DUI.

I was at the scene of a crash very similar to this a few years ago and the guys that stole the car and killed a mother got barely anything. Infuriating.

Actually accidents like this are pretty rare. Highway speeds are usually around 60-80 and cars are guaranteed to save lives at around 45mph. That said they still hold up pretty damn good even at a 60mph wrek.

Silverado(5000pds) vs Nissan Altima (3500)pds = good knight sweet princess. Even with my Lexus RX(hybrid) weighing 4500pds. Im looking at 30% 40% chance of survival from that hit. If you were driving a Chevy Tahoe(5,355pds) ur probably looking at a 70 -80% survival rate.

100% survival rate in this wrek, would be that when you slow down on the highway, you check your rear mirrors because drivers dont expect a sudden stop. But even for a top tier driver like me, I don't think I would have reacted fast enough to the 120mph wrecking ball.

Try driving in Russia. I almost crapped myself everytime I would get in a car there because of how reckless they drive there. They don't adhere to traffic rules, drive on the opposite side of road to pass cars, and if try to put on a seatbelt they look at you as if you're crazy or something. If you are driving a russian car then your chances of surviving a high speed crash is slim to none since they weigh almost nothing and dont have airbags for passengers.
