Whoever did the sampling made a couple of the songs vaguely catchy, but that's totally removed from whatever she is doing.

Quasi-depression music, and apparently she is a "genius" for her creative and deep music videos. Which are in fact the most random **** you could imagine in an attempt to be unique and interesting, in reality, it's very transparent.

Her musical style is hard to get into. It's pretty understated and simplistic, no catchy melodies, or easy to sing along choruses and they've over done the auto tune on her voice though that seems to be a very popular thing to do now. I've heard her without auto tune and her voice is far better than I expected but it's lost in the production.

While her music isn't really my thing, she's a refreshing change to the usual pop princesses. She doesn't use her looks to sell records, though she is only 17, that might change as she gets older and her music isn't just a string of love songs about meeting a guy or breaking up with a guy, so that at least is something that stands out.

Ocean Eyes and Bellyache were great. Then she just went off the deep end.

Though it's hard to criticize some 14-16 year old girl who is thrust into fame like that. She's probably getting exploited for her talent a little bit.
