A no-nonsense Indian restaurant owner brutally hit back at a 'shameless' TripAdvisor reviewer who criticised the size of its portions - after apparently ordering a bargain £3.50 three-course meal. The boss of Shimla Cottage, in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, sent a brutal reply to the complaint, which has since been shared on Twitter and liked nearly 2,000 times. Labelled 'Awful Lack Of Manners', the review claimed the owners were 'very rude' and that 'you only get what you pay for', adding: 'Even at that price, it felt like an absolute rip off.'

Taking to TripAdvisor, she said: 'Owners very rude, went as a large family meal. Everything felt very rushed to ordering our food. 'Starters were very small about three pieces of pakora each. Chicken tikka came on the plate with a small cup full of rice. Was basically three small pieces of chicken. 'Never been cooked on a sizzler, no onions, sauce looked like gravy and tasted like honey. Dessert came in ice cream and fudge cake that was thinner than a slice of bread (sic).' The customer concluded: 'Absolutely the worst ever Indian restaurant. You only get what you pay for and even at the price felt like a absolute rip off!!!!!'

Take a look on Tripadvisor and you will see many equally unfair reviews at quality restaurants. Nobody else reacts this way...and for good reason.

New York City restaurant owners are fighting back against negative Yelp postings by disgruntled diners, serving them heaping portions of curses, insults and threats.

“There is an overall douchebaggery to your review that makes me unsympathetic and ultimately content that you didn’t have a good experience. Take care,” Francesco Macri wrote after a patron criticized the sandwiches at his Midtown deli. The visitor to Park Italian Gourmet was sharing a meal with a pal and called the hero skimpy, saying it lacked “complexity.” The reviewer gave the deli just one star, the lowest rating.
Macri shot back, “I haven’t shared a sandwich with anyone since I was maybe 6 years old.”

Macri told another Yelp reviewer that she was “full of s–t.” He called one man “proprio scemo” or “just stupid” in Italian and said to another, “If you came back, I’d kick you out again.”
Macri stood by his comments. “I’m not a nice person,” he told The Post.

When one Yelp user accused Gaia Bagnasacco, owner of Gaia Italian Cafe in New York, of having a 'horrible attitude' she called him out on what she said was his 'nasty' behavior. Bagnasacco told Peter B., who had previously given her a five-star rating before the new two-star post, that the restaurant was tired of his attitude. 'We have been patience [sic] in the past many time,' she wrote. 'Is [sic] not fair Peter and we are sure you will find the right place for you. Ciao.'

In another response Bagnasacco wondered where all the 'educated' customers who 'understand quality' had gone. But sometimes, when the customer takes it too far, the restaurant owners are unafraid to give more than a strong-worded response. After two customers at a Boston restaurant took a table despite not having a reservation and began obviously posting on Yelp as a threat for service, chef Michael Scelfo snapped their photo and posted it on his Instagram page.

And so on.

Fake/revenge Yelp reviews have been a thing now for years.
