They saw some other haircut with a naturally perfect male model who could literally do anything with their hair and look good and decided since this perfect looking guy has (Insert New Fad Haircut Here) and looks good, they should also get that haircut?

SS cut = Pompadour cut in real life. It's still a thing and most often you'd ask the barber for a medium fade w/ scissors on top and a hard part. (I really fuggin hope you brahs were not walking into a barber asking for SS cuts lol)

the beta soy pic is typically known as an undercut, where the hair on top is combed to the back and/or side and the rest of the scalp is faded with buzzers.

I basically get an 'SS cut' every time i get a haircut for 2 reasons: 1) it grows out well and doesn't need constant maintenance 2) I would never wear a buzz cut where you put clippers to the top of my head, i'm white and it looks stupid on most of us especially as it grows in and doesn't allow for any sort of styling. Hair might as well have been spray painted on at that point.
