he needs to take ideas from Dwayne Johnson and Arnold to join a movie franchise. The days of a highly talented actor carrying a whole movie are long gone. That's how these superhero movies easily take in hundreds of millions per film. Its all connected.

You pretty much know what you’re going to get with a Will Smith action movie.

On a personal level it had to compete with the Joker and Zombieland 2 for my money.

This speaks volumes to how bad his career has been.

Would you so much as speak any will smith title in the same sentence as movies like Training Day, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Leon The Professional or Gladiator? No because he makes very bubble gum easy to watch and understand movies marketed to dumb people that dont want to watch multiple artistic angles taking place in the same story.

I've never been able to take him seriously outside or roles like his Freh Prince days or goofy films like Men In Black. He was okay in I Am Legend. However, there wasn't a ton of acting with other actual actors in it, so I wouldn't call it evidence that he's capable of legitimately difficult, serious roles.

Agreed. Seven Pounds is a really good flick. Hit me in da feelz a few times. One of those films that nobody has really heard of either despite a solid cast and everything.

The script was what? 20 years old right? Even though I think it would be cool to see what 120FPS filming looks like it still wasn't enough to entice me to see it.

Honestly Will Smith has been having questionable movie choices the past decade.

Yea dude. I have to think something was up. He goes through a really hot phase in the mid 2000's with pursuit, legend, hitch, irobot, bad boys ii, hancock but in 2012 MIB III - supposed to be a big hit - is his last legit role. With as much $$ he was making and star power he had, he should have had a nice selection of scripts. Then all of the sudden he gets "after earth" and is "espn reporter" in anchorman 2. The fuk

Who the hell goes from making 575 mil or whatever with i am legend to having to take a cameo role in a comedy sequel. Thats some weird chit

ok but you're a minority

by and large there's no such thing as an actor 'carrying' movies like some are trying to make out lol

spiderman still successful despite several rboots
fast and furious still successful with or without diesel and walker when they left
avatar still successful with no big name lead

Eh...I mean as someone mentioned he turned down The Matrix & Django Unchained for example to do stuff like Wild, Wild, West?!

He's ALWAYS chose to be in campy films and doesn't have the range as other actors like a Denzel or hell even Jamie Foxx. I like him as a person but he's always chose safe roles in his catalog.

I really think he could do a lot by doing the motivational stuff he's been doing on his YouTube channel. Maybe expand that more.

I liked wild, wild west. He also had that song (or maybe it was an album) wild, wild west. Dunno if that had anything to do with it

But to me, in 00's his movies are grossing well into the hundreds of millions. Then all of the sudden he chooses a bunch of flops. Kinda weird. 7 of his top 10 highest grossers are mid-2000's, independence day is 3rd highest

Looks like alladin and suicide squad are his highest grossing lol

Bingo. The guy is a con artist. Always has been. No idea why the misc was/is so in love with him. There is not a single film that he’s made that I’ve walked out of saying “wow... he MADE that movie.”

Hopefully Hollywood finally realizes that his time is up and stops forcing him down our throats.
