Ah cool!! It's good that you actually enjoy it, I'm worried that if I spend so many years working up to getting a job, then not actually enjoying it. Yeah medicine was also another career path for me, (inspired by scrubs, don't think medical places have people like that lol)

LOL, so my background is "varied," to say the least. I was a professional dancer (no stripper) at 16 and attended a performing arts high school for a few hours a day, never even heard of consulting until I was 25 or so. I wanted to go to college and have a shot at a somewhat normal life so I played around with a performing arts college and they decided to offer me a scholarship to major in underwater basketweaving. I graduated with a BFA and fuked around for a few years then started looking at MBA programs for chits and giggles. I did that, added some letters to my name, worked for some alphabet acronyms then exited to the boutique firm I'm at now.

I think consulting is absolutely something to check out and consider (are you still in school? Look at their consulting club) Obviously MBB and some of the other firms are massively stressful - I was literally homeless for about 18 months, it was like Up in the Air but without a very sexy mentor to show me the ropes.

Now, it's the best job I've ever had and I'm likely at the best company I'll ever work for. I average around 30 hours a week, 99% remotely, earning mid 6 figures and people with industry experience as old as I am listen to me and do what I tell them. It's also cool as fuk to work on projects that you eventually see on the news...until it's Purdue Pharma, the Saudi Arabian government, etc. Just be aware that whatever type of consulting you do can massively impact your career, and you likely have little say around the projects/engagements you take on.

Yeah man thanks for offering your help, totally appreciate it!! I'm honestly in a hole of what I actually want to do in my later life. I either want to go into maths, become a civil engineer, or a consultant!! I mean, it's all well and good to have an ambition of jobs to do later on, but I don't want to study loads then find out that the job is a pile of **** lol. Your questions aren't ridiculous at all, you're curious. "Underwater basketweaving" is an idiom that means you studied something that is difficult to apply to the "real world." Things like vocal jazz, women's studies, German Polka history, etc. Adding letters to someone's name is a silly way of saying they have a professional or terminal degree, things like a Ph.D, JD, etc.

When I said I was homeless, I meant that I lived in hotels for 18 months because of work. I didn't rent or have a mortgage, I simply lived out of different hotels depending upon the city I was in. It's common for consultants to either do Monday through Thursday at the client site or even longer, depending on the duration of the project. My work is focused on inclusion, which is a fancy way of saying how to make sure people at work are reasonably happy enough that they're productive, while staying mindful of industry regulations and boring legal stuff.

I think since you're only 16 (and I don't mean that dismissively, it's awesome that you're driven and considering possible career routes) you should focus on things like building and maintaining your social skills, getting good grades, delayed gratification, and using condoms. Truly, if you can manage those four things you'll be miles ahead of your peers when the time comes to decide on a career path. Good luck to you! And don't stress, you're going to be just fine.

Lol of course not. I do enjoy being home with them, even though it’s taken some time to adjust. I’ve had a job since I was a teen. So being home really took some getting used to. Once the little one goes to school I plan to work part time to start. But I do miss the interaction with other adults during the day. I’m hoping to get a job with the school district when I return to full time work. I especially love working behind the scenes doing admin work for the special edition sector.
