I got a new job taking care of a disabled dude

Been bored at home for a while and got offered a position as a personal care assistant for my daycare lady's brother.

Should be a cake job, so I'm pretty excited.

Not taking the job for money since I have my business, just something to get out of the house.

So, good news for y'all, I won't be miscing as much.

Do you have to be certified if the family doesnt care? Good for you srs. One of my close friends does that 60 hours a week. Its noble work. I will warn you after a while spending that much time together they will annoy you. Just have to remind yourself theyre dealing with some misery and youre doing a good deed

He's paralyzed from the waist down.

I'll be dressing and helping him into the shower, but he can basically shower himself. I mostly do the cooking, cleaning and driving him around.

Pretty much a glorified maid.

Yup. I have my CNA license. I used to work for dementia patients before I had kids, which was WAY more difficult to deal with. This is basically a care companion job, so super cake in comparison. He's mostly independent.

I know it's crude --- but what about bathroom? Do you have to help him take a piss, or wipe after the other business?

Yeah.
I've done the job before, albeit with a much older crowd. Honestly, I'm used to diapers. This guy is mostly self sufficient, I just have to help him onto the toilet and off.

I've done it before under way more difficult circumstances.
Was a CNA in a dementia facility for years.
I'm just excited to work out of the house again. It was either this or at a coffee shop down the street. But this way I get daycare for cheaper and the pay is better.

Aside from all the misc jokes of you blowing him and fisting him and letting him blow you, you really are doing some good work especially if its a volunteering job. Just be patient with the person and understand no matter what they do or say, they'll always appreciate your effort.

Been trying to find something to do in my own downtime, was thinking of volunteering for the rural fire brigade services in my suburb.
if you need someone to chat with, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.

It's a paid job, but the pay is pretty minimal, especially after daycare costs. I was asked to do it by my daycare lady and we worked out a deal. I think I'll bring home like $200 a week, at most. But it still should be a great experience. I meet him on Monday.

You should totally volunteer, though! You'd probably feel super fulfilled and it would be an experience, for sure.
