Met lots BJJ practicioners, who did that stuff, but never got it. It's not a world title match, you are both noobs anyways. Those 10lbs won't make that much of a difference. In the end it's just about leaving that tournament a better fighter not winning it.

Yes, I train daily (with 1-2 days off per week depending on my work schedule). I do zero cardio outside of mat time, because BJJ IS cardio. The length of time of matches varies: white belts get 5 minutes, blue get 6, purple 7, brown 8, black 10 (can vary based on who's holding the tournament). A submission is not necessary to win. There are points awarded for achieving dominant position and most people win on that.Yeah, you're right, but in this case I'm only cutting literally 2 pounds. I'm actually already on weight but want a little bit of a buffer. It's mostly to lessen my own anxiety tbh--I don't want to come in .7 under (where I am now), it's too much anxiety.
