Why are some lesbian women attracted to "butch" lesbians. Many times, from my assessment, butch lesbians are essentially cross dressers / trannies... they dress in men's clothes, style their hair with mens haircuts, use shortened male name sounding versions of their birth names, behave in masculine ways etc. It makes me wonder why a lesbian would be attracted to what is essentially a person with predominately masculine qualities only with a vagina... is the vagina solely the driving factor?

I am back! I compete tomorrow at 11am so today I was just watching my teammates. OK, let's see....No, she doesn't want to try a man and neither do I. Like I said, we've been there, done that. No, I do not think I (not speaking for anyone else, I suppose) could be interested in "feminine" males. For the gi, my game plan is to pull X guard, transition to double leg X, and use one of several sweeps I know from there. Obviously as a Marcelo student I'm most confident in my X guard. If we double guard pull I just want to come up on top; my passing game is fairly strong (I like folding pass, x pass, knee cut, and double-under).

If I can pull closed guard instead, I'll threaten arm bar, back take, flower sweep, depending. Or switch to lasso and use one of the sweeps I know from there or, outside shot, invert to omoplata. If I wind up in half guard somehow I have a fairly decent game from dogfight position and an OK deep half game.

For takedowns the only one I really like is the low single if I get the chance, but it's hard not to telegraph that. I'm into uchi mata from overhook or underhook as well, and outside trip from clinch. I do not want to shoot a standard double or single leg because of the guillotine risk. What I may do is come up on a single from guard pull.

For submissions, my best bet in the gi is bow and arrow. Three of my tournament submissions so far have been bow and arrow chokes, by far my highest percentage move. Closed guard arm bars are a close second. For nogi, arm triangle if I can get to mount, or even north-south choke.

This is all best-case scenario. I may wind up crushed on the bottom! But we shall see.Frankly, I don't understand this either. You're probably right. Several of my BJJ friends have some sort of mental illness. It's kind of sad, but it's also good if BJJ has helped them... it certainly has helped me. However, we have seen some people lose their battle with addiction or mental illness within the community recently. One of the most amazing, sweet men I've ever met, a brown belt, OD'd last year. It was horrible.....Ew. No. Would you?

I don't think it's weird to lose a little weight for a local match. If you're near a cut off...it can make a difference. I think you should still do absolute though because a mismatch weight and speed is interesting.

However, people tend to be pretty good at every class. They aren't kidding and even local stuff people are real good.

Local people do nationals too. You never know who is going to show up and they might be a wizard.

I will say having lost a lot of weight...sometimes the heavier classes do not have enough participants.

And you don't want to wait around all day and have 2-matches.

You're right that amazing people show up for local tournaments. Remember, I'm in NYC--that is a hub of world-class BJJ, from Marcelo's to Renzo's and more, especially if you include New Jersey. Every bracket is pretty stacked. Featherweight and lightweight women (i'm lightweight) tend to have the most and the most aggressive competitors. I wouldn't be shocked to see a flying triangle coming at me, though I'm not up to that level myself yet.

I'm not sure how I'll adjust to the different style in a lower weight class. Because I play a top game and use a ton of pressure, I may do well. Or I may get shut out with flexible ladies who invert like crazy. We'll see.

You get an overly big scrunchie and for your hair if you use that you double it up on itself. You're at a club...there's a punk idk, minor deception raise hand to hair it will be perceived as flirtatious....take it out and baseball choke using it...it's thin, it will actually choke real quick. A tshirt will too.

I have my own mental health issues which are pretty serious. A bunch of the older guys had substance abuse issues...but they all become sober and use grappling as a religion.

I think you meant to reply to the casual that I quoted, but I will engage. I am 100% onboard for cutting weight specifically at lower levels. Why? When you are newer and have less knowledge and technique, weight is a HUGE factor. Technique is the great equalizer, but when you don't have technique, you gongetsmashed if the other person is bigger.

As years have passed and my skills have advanced, I find that I care less and less about size. I've been competing in open divisions since blue and feel more and more comfortable with the weight disparities as the years go by.

And yeah, the spitting thing one of the oldest "cut" methods in wrestling. Cracks me up when I see it, like bruh are you really 1oz over weight?

I'm okay with scrambling, luckily, pretty quick and enjoy running to north-south, hip switching, and crab riding/falling into leg drag. Pretty much any throw I try means a scramble as my finishing is... well, I don't do judo so I'm lucky to get anything. It's so cool you have that much judo under your belt. It is a huge advantage if you compete, I'm jealous.I get it if you chew tobacco, as that's a diuretic, but randomly spitting does feel a bit "extra." Wrestlers are insane about weight, though. I've read something like 80% are actively bulimic in-season. WTF.
