I think an argument could be made for recreational being more akin to cheating

You don't have an unfair advantage when you're a professional, all your peers do it so you're just keeping the playing field even. If it's recreational and you're a normie and it's intended to help you stand out among your normie peers, that seems closer to "cheating"
