drugs are no joke

addictive personality brahs stay safe
A lot of misinformation ITT. Benzodiazepine awareness isn’t that much of a thing even among doctors, so I’m going to learn y’all some new info.

First, you don’t have to have an addictive personality to become dependent on benzos. Most people who become dependent on them take them as prescribed for anxiety or sleep, and they work amazingly well. Dependence can happen quick, and withdrawals are far more severe than heroin.

Second, withdrawals are more severe than heroin. Have a look at the subreddits for benzo recovery. People who quit abruptly experience extreme and frequent panic attacks, insomnia (sometimes for days), digestive issues, speech issues, muscle coordination issues... the list goes on. Imagine panicking for no reason all day. That’s what withdrawal looks like. The best part of it? It can last from THREE MONTHS TO A YEAR, and possibly, never go away.

Third, research is becoming more common on these drugs, and it turns out, they’re bad for you. They can give you Alzheimer’s and dependence forms rapidly. Tolerance occurs quickly. Doctors used to prescribe them like candy, causing the creation of many unintentional addicts.

Last, I want to share my story. I had a horrible anxiety issue in 2015. I’d become anxious over minuscule **** and not sleep for days. I once did not sleep five days before an exam because I was nervous for the exam. My doctor gave me klonopin, a long lasting benzo (half life is anywhere between 18 and 50 hours, but I am a slow metabolized of drugs, so I was far more closer to the 50 hour half life). Klonopin worked great. It let me sleep before exams and I was all of a sudden a functional student. No anxiety, no problems. I took it 1-3 times a week in a low dose, and my doctor gave me a chit load, like 60 a month, to take AS NEEDED.

Long story short, I became dependent on the substance at 1-3 times a week. Why? Because of the long half life. The effects of the drug lasted for 12 hours, but the half life is closer to 50 for me. They say you need to multiple the half life by 5 to essentially ensure that the drug is completely out of your system. I think that’s true.

Imagine me taking it on Monday. By Thursday, I still have a little less than half of it in my system. I take it Thursday night, and then by next Tuesday, I take it again. I skip it for 5 days, then I take it again. Harmless, right?

Wrong. What happened was that I spent 4 months having it in my system and when I went a week without it, I became a ****ing nutcase. Insomnia, heart beating out of my chest, high blood pressure, failing memory, CRAZY ASS ANXIETY AND PANIC ATTACKS TO THE POINT WHERE MY THROAT WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WOULD CLOSE UP.

I found that when the brain is anxious for no reason, it will look for reasons to assign that anxiety for some thing. I started fighting with my then GF and she eventually called me insane and broke up with me. Lost a lot of friends. Anxious mess and almost went to the ER several times because I thought i was going to die. I started to improve about a month in, but still experienced anxiety, random panic attacks, and weird muscle twitching until month 4. I wasn’t back to normal again until month 6.

I’m not a POS addict. I have an anxiety problem that was preventing me from living a normal life, I sought out medical attention and became hooked on this fukking chit. People describe withdrawals as “going through hell and back”. I agree. Some people have seizures during withdrawal.

Nowadays, my doctor won’t give me more than a 7 day prescription for any benzo (I seldom need them anyway, so this isn’t a big deal). A lot of docs don’t prescribe them anymore because getting hooked will ruin your life more than heroin will. I had no idea I was addicted, and just recently discovered this revelation about myself. I quit it cold turkey (which can even kill you). Taper schedules exist now that can last YEARS. I’ve read and spoke to people who have been tapering for months, and I spoke to one person who has been doing it for two years. This **** is not a fukking joke, and Jordan Peterson is right to seek rehab because once you’re dependent, you may not make it through. A lot of docs still aren’t aware that this chit is bad for you and (rarely) prescribe them in huge doses. Eminem was addicted to benzos and claimed he didn’t sleep for three weeks when he quit, and he also said he had to relearn how to speak/rap because quitting fukked up his brain.

I’d be happy to answer any questions you brahs have on it, if it isn’t against the rules. I’m on mobile, so excuse me if this story seems rushed. And no, the medication doesn’t make you high. It just relieves anxiety and makes you feel slightly sloppy, like you’re drunk without the head buzz feeling.

Cliffs:
-Don’t fuk with this chit.
-Had you saw your doctor in before like 2017 for anxiety, you probably would have been given these pills, became dependent, and went through a long period of hell.
-Words can’t describe how it feels to withdraw from this stuff (I was only on .5mg). God bless the people on 30mg a day trying to quit.

Its because he's not masculine enough. I like Jordan peterson a lot bit he's not the most masculine guy out there and I've noticed that the more slooty a woman is the less masculine her father is. Just a generalization but it seems to hold true most of the time.

It's a pretty fair assessment that there are a lack of male role models in society today and a lot of kids used him as a surrogate father. He wasn't saying anything earth-shattering, it was more the fact that he was willing to stand up to the political correctness that has overrun the education system.
You're unintentionally misrepresenting his rise to fame. He didn't refuse to use new pronouns, he was opposed to the new law that was being passed that enforced the use of new pronouns and could punish by law those who refused, but said he'd happily call any person/student by their chosen pronoun if they asked him. Basically, he viewed the law as an infringement on free speech.

How many benzos do you have to take regularly to form a significant withdrawal?

not trying to be a defeatist but with depression meds you are really trading one problem for another. in many cases trading one problem and getting multiple.

the meds can help the depression but those same meds can give you other problems

ive battled depression all my life. i was hospitalized at 15 for it. ive tried depression meds, MDMA, self medicated with drugs and alchohol.

and while this is not a fix or cure for the depression ..looking back what helped the most (long term) was hard exercise and eating clean 6 days a week and having one cheat day to indulge.

for anyone else who has the same problem and just started or is considering self medicating with illicit drugs or booze take heed to this. it does take the depression away but only for a very short time and when that wears off you will find yourself worse off than you was before you did it and the more you keep going back to do it to get that short relief the more your depression and life problems will get worse. stay away from that option at all cost.

its just something we have to live with and is the cards god has dealt us. manage it the best way you can.

I took lexapro (SSRI) for 2 weeks a few years back and stopped immediately when my sex drive went down. I was like wtf did the pharmacist mistake my medication for finasteride or something?

Tom Cruise (despite his craziness) was right about pharmaceutical drugs and anti-depressants. All they do is mask the problem and don’t address the route of why you’re depressed.

Not saying there aren’t people who need them or benefit from them but they’re wayyyyyy too easily prescribed.

Unless you suffer from some chemical imbalance in your brain, why do people take anti depressants?
For 99% of the population, it's your life circumstances causing your depression.
Taking pills to make you feel more numb is no different than resorting to alcohol imo.
Did anyone legit feel better just from taking pills which led them to solve the issues causing the actual depression and not masking it?

Weird sh*t, but it happens. Mine is carbs...potato's, rice, yams, etc...heart palps, chest pain, ridiculous anxiety (fight or flight 24/7).

Only carbs from green veggies now, and no more than 30g of carbs per day. All symptoms stopped completely.

his stuff has helped alot of people

But he is only human boyos, everybody has a breaking point where they can only take so much chit that happens in their lives so I'm not going to judge as I have no idea what he's gone through.

But I think it's a lot of the physical problems he has combined with a lot of the stress of becoming somewhat famous with people attacking him left and right. Benzos are no joke either, it's not really even his fault he got addicted to it if the docs prescribed this to him.

Regardless if you hate him or love him or think he is a hypocrite I still wouldn't wish anything bad on the guy.

Even jp himself has pointed this out, that most depression is not medical it's just life being sh*tty.

Alot of people cant cope is the reality of it, so they go for drugs

Physical dependence is rapid with benzos. It can occur within weeks of daily use, even at low doses.
Benzos will FCK your brain/CNS up quickly. There are lasting GABA/Glutamate changes that can take years to heal or be permanent with benzo use.

It does not sound like he had a psychological addiction. He was experiencing paradoxical reactions on the drug and became suicidal. That is a VERY tough spot to be in. Benzo withdrawal is hell on earth.
The amount of people in this country dependent on benzos is the real silent epidemic. These drugs are more dangerous than opioids imo.

The level of retard in the comments is depressing. Please stop drinking fluoride on a daily basis.

It's important to bear in mind that life and well-being are mostly the result of ourexperiences, as opposed to ourunderstanding. So you can have people like JP who obviously have an incredibly rich understanding of human suffering, but that understanding is not neccesarily an antidote to negative experiences.

Only experience can counter experience, therefore the challenge of therapy (be it self-help or with a professional) is in utilising understanding to create positive experiences.
