You said since 2016. COVID-19 has nothing to do with 4 years of supposed contraction.

What hard facts do you have to support your point? I'm asking in honesty, I've heard grumbling about gov't spending out pacing actual economy and am highly skeptical of numbers, but hell I prefer making up my mind on facts than "it's all bullchit anyway" like some old codger who is skeptical of anything for the sake of it.
One simply has to look at the types of jobs people have been getting since that time. There was a marked drop in 2016 business activity and this has persisted until the current Covid-19 bomb. Now all we hear about is this, when we should actually be talking about the future opportunities that rebased assets will bring. However, there will be no end to this and we are in a different type of recession now.

Keep driving for Uber and live your dream of owning a 1 million plus home. But hey, the loan was cheap! LOL if you think this is not a recession.

Also, purchasing managers index is piss poor. Why? It tells you how desperate people are to drop ship. No body talks about the dead stock sitting in inventory! South East Asia is basically the biggest rubbish dump in the world right now... and this is for the products that aren't burned.

The best ride was 2009 to end 2015. Looking at risk exposures sitting on balance sheets, there is a lot of derivative positions out there. What a times to be alive. I think post 2016 prices look very unstable. Stay safe. We are about a full correction away now to revert back. It will happen and bank stocks will take a larger hit.

Accountants and lawyers have been working hard to create legal structures to park bad debts too. So company health may not be what it seems. And let's also throw in the fact that the independent financial auditors ALL get paid by clients to line the purses of their partners. Much like Moody's gets paid by banks to report superior credit risk management processes and books.

My condolences to anyone who invested in Index funds since 2016. Stock picking and timing is where it is at.

lmfao at "circuit breakers", I know bureaucrats like to stay in their positions and maintain their legacies but surely such short-sightedness can be overcome by someone that matters?

This is some sort of clown world we live in. I wonder if we have circuit breakers if the indicies rise too quickly?

Do the circuit breakers stop trading for the day or a specific time or what? Anyone have a primer on the way this chit works.

In case anybody was curious as to how circuit breakers work:

The rules, which apply to regular trading hours only, are as follows:

Level 1: If the S&P 500 drops 7%, trading will pause for 15 minutes. (This would occur today if the S&P falls 208 points).

Level 2: If the S&P 500 declines 13%, trading will again pause for 15 minutes if the drop occurs on or before 3:25 p.m. ET. There will be no halt if the drop happens after that. (This would occur today if the S&P falls 386 points).

Level 3: If the S&P 500 falls 20%, trading would halt for the remainder of the day. (This would occur if the S&P falls 594 points).

I'm holding 4/17 SPY puts at $300 strike. Gonna unload after a 7% circuit breaker and switch to some short dated calls anticipating some sort of signal from the fed or from the White House about monetary or fiscal policy which should bounce us off the lows. Then go back into puts after that rally fades. We'll see how it pans out.

LOL **** was gonna crash even without Corona. I was in the market to buy a house in February. Found a few that i liked and made offers and was out bid for all of them. One of them was listed for 263k i offered 281k and was not even the top two offer...i was 3rd in line to buy it. WTF.

Another house went on market on Sunday i called my agent and asked to schedule the visit for Monday the agent called me back on Monday saying dont bother they already have multiple offers site unseen. I mean people buyink 260k houses like its a fukkin cheeseburger.

I figured out why though i was approved for up to 300k loan and the lender told me since i have good credit we can go up too 350k with only 5% down. What a joke....didnt learn anything from 2008.

This is market manipulation.

You look at the actual corona virus info and its not 1/10th of what the news makes it out to be. Its a more potent flu, thats it.

Other than oil prices from the Saudis having beef with non OPEC countries, the rest of this is manufactured crisis and its the big wigs that are moving the market, it isnt your uncle moving his 20k 401k into a money market fund.

My personal view is it will revert back to 2015/16 prices with more volatility in commodities and foreign exchange rates. Assets won't drop en masse like 2008/09 where there were some very good bargains to be had.
