Another option is the Botach level IVs from the land of rubber dog chit and bat soup. From the tests I've seen, they actually outperform some US-made plates and are lighter, but a little smaller. They make a III+ special threat plate as well, but for the money I'd rather spend a couple extra dollars on US-made plates. In any event, I'd take Chinese-made ceramic/poly plates over AR500 steel any day of the week.

March Madness will now be a no-fans event. The NCAA advises schools not to hold sporting events open to the public.
https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...o-coronavirus/
Basically . . . seems like organizations/events are starting to act en-masse on their own to reduce the large gatherings to try and flatten the curve.

On masks, I have 10 or so N95s from a ways back when I was doing work around the house, doubt I'll use them but nice to have I guess.

Interesting. I bought another couple boxes Jan 21st (checked order history to verify) and awhile later when I looked again they were allllll gone absolutely everywhere well before hand sanitizer even
I think the short version is, if you take one hit from a rated threat in the ceramic plate, it will be fine to keep using and should work the next time too. And if you plan on being able to pick your fights, and you take a round in the front plate, flip it with the rear plate later? Seriously.

Switching gears to covid-19.... Tent camping for a week in the middle of no where soon. When I come back to civilization, I'm fully expecting I come back to this:

I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

The media has done such a good job on the sheep though that I'd probably be looked at as evil if I wore one of my literally a decade old masks in public because how dare I have a mask when there are shortages for healthcare professionals now

I haven't used any yet and hopefully won't use any, but I hvae expanded from only having them in prep bags and travel carry on bags to also being by doors and in the cars. Ready in case.
Just have to not touch inside of mask with contaminated hands, don't mess with it once it's on, after use/gets soggy from breathe/etc, take it off by the elastic/bands without touching the face part and discard it.
Also in case some clod sneezes or coughs at you because you know it's going to happen if you go out. Catch those droplets rather than breathing them in. Might be more psychological on that part IDK
Also if you wear a mask, people aren't likely to get all up in your businessand those people could be asymptomatic carriers or "it's just the flu IDC" idiots

Probably right at least on making people not want to be near you, potentially preventing a carrier from breathing on you.
But I think I've read and been lead to believe that the virus is small enough that even if you're wearing a mask and you're around somewhere breathing it, you're probably getting it anyway. Hence why it being pointless for a healthy person. But sure, if people are around sneezing and **** I'd rather get hit in a mask than anywhere near my exposed mouth.

Hey brahs,
My workplace is letting go of about 40 people in the very near future.
How do you handle the realization that a disgruntled former employee may be coming to shoot up your work sometime soon?
Or at least that the odds of a workplace shooting happening are about to get a lot higher?
Start carrying regardless? I could get away with pocket carrying an LCP at all times, but other than that I don't know
Keep your glock in your desk?

i bring a backpack with my lunch, protein shaker and a powerade ultra. have my HK vp9 in it also.
not nearly as dorky as a lunch box or a plastic bag and just overall easier ot carry.
just have it at your desk or w/e at your spot. it will feel weird at first, but i don't want to take any chances either. I've been carrying at work for like a year now
the above post is not serious and is for entertainment purposes only.
Thanks for your time.

but seriously, think I'm going to start keeping a pistol at work, and one in my vehicle. Not allowed, but they haven't done vehicle searches at the gate probably since around 9/11. Security is unarmed and LE response is minimum 15 min away. And that would be one sherriff, and maybe a statie on a good day. An AR14 and 100 rds could stack bodies pretty easy.

Bolt? AR10? What's the purpose?
Why a 1911?
For edc or personal defense, I'd go with something a bit more practical in 9mm.

Have a plan. If chit went down were you are posted, what would you immediately do? Would you recognize this person in your area first? What will you do? confront, report, runaway?
If you hear gun fire, what's the plan, lock you area down, run, hide, fight, etc. what?
Just carrying is not a plan, a firearm is a tool. It's like having a saw and hammer, but no blueprint of what you are going to build with it.
EDIT: Also learn some first aid and trauma care. Carry a TQ on you and one in your work area. Familiarize with where the 1st aid kit is (take the responsibility that it's stocked because you can bet no one has probably checked it since it was placed), and any AED devices are if any (if so learn to use one).
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

Would be nice if work from home was an option for me, betting our whole institution will be put in quarantine if it hits us; we had to quarantine 4 buildings (almost 2 whole yards) and our level 1 facility this year just from the flu.
Upside is we have a ton of N95 masks, for now.
