Cliffs:

The economy has and always will bounce back - you need to have talent ready to capitalize when it does.

Developing people is very expensive, and replacing people even more so - if you let them go, it will take substantial time to rebuild your pipeline.

Each firm's brand is critical to attracting talent - no one wants to be known as the firm that just slashes and burns at the first sign of uncertainty.

I got mine around that time and it's turned out alright for me, and I'm pretty dumb so I'm sure you'll be A-okay.
I know we chatted in a thread! Thanks Red. Glad it all worked out for you! I have been planning to apply this fall for like 3 years, so this coronavirus came as a big surprise.

so that's life bro, so instead we financially destroy half the country who dont know how to save money and usher in a great depression.

What for, to save less than 1% of the population. Isolate those at risk, that's enough

How am I acting like a preteen? Because I'm more concerned about the bigger picture, truth is there are probably 10 to 100x more cases, we just cant test for them. If you think anything different then your head is in the sand.

Is it deadlier than the flu, yes. It's probably a 1 to 2% mortality rate more accurately.

So let's shut down the world for the flu.

DISCLAIMER - selfish AF post here with what's going on, but just wanna vent.

My wife and I finally got to plan a honeymoon after being married two years and being able get into a comfortable financial spot, only to have CV cause use to cancel it. Literally the first actual vacation I have booked for myself in 10 years or more. We were desperately looking forward to it since even before the Virus, we have had a challenging 4 months span with life handing us quite a few lemons.

When I get upset about it, I just remember we are healthy, and think of the people suffering round the world and I feel like a selfish fuktard. Still very frustrating though.

You might, and I've made that case before. I don't want this country to become a communist chithole any more than you do, my manlet "engineer" friend. But right now, the best course of action is in fact what the CDC has recommended. Smarter people than you (people who like actually understand proofs and stuff and don't just mindlessly plug and chug) crunched the numbers and modeled the situation.

obviously you've never taken engineering courses if you think anything is plug and chug.you have zero life skills and even less logical thought process.

One huge point the CDC is missing is non tested/diagnosed cases and how long this strain has been here. It's probably been here a month or two before any testing could confirm it and the number of people who have or have had it are 10 to 100x what they think. They are trying to isolate it. Its beyond that so why cripple the economy for that?

Besides any engineer takes way more in depth statistics courses than do medical professionals

this. it's way more widespread than the positive tests show and it was already widespread before things were shut down.

and shutting down schools, restaurants, bars etc isn't going to do much other than delay the spread a bit. All it does is buy a little time.

Let's say your work shuts down for two weeks, you stay at home, don't go out to eat etc, you don't catch it. 2 weeks is up, you go back to work, BAM you bump into someone that has the virus on the subway who's job wasn't shut down and guess what, you're infected now.

one of my childhood buddies was snapping a bunch of tropical pics / beaches / drinks etc last week. I asked him what the hell was going on and he said him and his GF had a trip booked to a resort (dominican i think he said?) and flew out right before everything started getting shut down. He said they pretty much have the entire resort to themselves, it's at 5% capacity

It was through my mom, so will definitely go on another one at some point, but don't think she has any plans in the next year. I've been on 13 and last one was end of Aug so I'm not horribly disappointed that we had to cancel. Sucks for people like you and Juggernaut though.

I'd be too worried about being allowed back into the states, especially without a mandatory quarantine in a camp.

tired of porn.

grocery stores are back to normal for the most part. random things won't be restocked sometimes. yesterday all the eggs were gone but all the other staples were there. every store has a large amount of bread. only thing is TP and paper towels, shelves still empty an hr after opening. why are people still hoarding this chit?? how much do you need?

also i HATE being repped by low-reppers. fukkin waste. srs. feel like negging them in return.
