Here's a website that has helped thousands of people getting their citizenship. I can confirm the process is exactly as they say as I've done it. I went for my last interview 6 months ago, I still have a few months of waiting to do.

There's work visa or mariage visa for living 5 years in a row. Student visa alone doesn't work because you'd fail the taxes or supporting yourself part. You're not allowed to work full time as a student.

In Japan you can switch from student visa to work visa upon graduation. It's what I did. When to Japanese language school, business school and then started working in real estate. I had the job secured before graduating and the transition was smooth.

Hope it works out! Moving to japan is at the top of my dream goals. But it's hard to keep hope in it.

If you can afford to you should try it. Hope you will someday. As you guessed it, it is pretty expensive. I had to get a 35,000$ US student loan and parental support to afford it. That's not really something you can do on your own since students tend to be broke 10-20 somethings.

That was never true. More like treated like a curiosity and only if you go to the countryside. That stopped happening in big cities about 10 years ago. This is exactly the route I was going to take.

Just lol at the replies saying my approach is childish. I’m not going divulge my detailed plan to a bunch of randoms.

I have connections with expat owned businesses that have helped tons of people live and work in japan. These uniformed posts about how hard it is and there’s no way is laughable. You’re not looking hard enough.

Teaching English is by far the easiest route that is lax on foreigners but you could just as easily have an expat owned company vouch for you under a special work visa where you’re the only one who can do the job. It’s a lot to go into and it comes with its own hurdles but essentially you’re playing to your foreigner advantage in that situation.

Every story I’ve heard about foreigners in japan has been a testament to the saying “where there’s a will there’s a way.” Just insane stories about building connections and working towards the goal and learning the language.

It’s not as impossible as strangers on the internet would have you believe..

To OP,

Japan, like any other countries in this world, has both good and bad sides. You'd find many disappointments but also many good surprises when you actually spend time with us here in Japan.

The word "gaijin(foreigner)" represents many things to us Japanese. Some fear you, some adore you, some respect you and some despise you. Many of us don't believe god. Some people pray to god when they need help but if asked "Who is your god?" then most of them would answer "I don't know." Young people don't know the difference between Buddhism and Shinto, Bible and Koran, the New and the Old Testament.

Some police officers are polite and some are arrogant and rude. Some public rest rooms are dirty and some are clean. Some people are rich and kind while some people are poor and mean, or you'd find the exact opposite. Some people are eager to help less fortunate ones than they are, even strangers while some people look the other way caring only for themselves. Some people can change and some can't. We love things, hate things and ignore things like anybody else in this world.

So if you are gonna visit Japan, please do so with an open mind and heart, last but not least clear purpose only then it'd be the best experience in your life.

I went there for a week when I was 17.

Can confirm:
More advanced and nicer to tourists/foreigners
Some are racist
Ideally it'd be best to move there if you're white from what I understand
Food is amazing
Cost is very high
If you go clubbing stay safe. Some pray on tourists.
Don't buy blowfish from any street vendor go somewhere nice.
The English teachers there I hung out with said Asians know english through school but will not use it and are too shy to use it with you. More likely to date another foreigner(so I was told while I was there)

You're nothing short of delusional if you believe this as a black guy who doesn't even speak the language of the country he wants to move to. America is without a doubt one of the best countries to live in as a black person, and the only reason you hear about racism more in places like America and the UK is because the people in these countries actually care about it enough to report it.
