I'm really interested in this, as well as your carbs vs fat partitioning.
My metabolism has slowed down considerably and I heard that if you slowly increase calories (like 50 a week) your body will adapt to using it instead of storing it as fat.
I track my resting metabolic rate (how many calories I burn doing nothing all day) and my activity rate (how much I burn moving around, exercising, etc) and those numbers are 1650 calories and 550 calories, respectively (I've measured using heart rate on the apple watch for years).
I'd like to bump that up as high as possible after my cut is over, but I gain fat easily.
So yea I'm really curious how you bumped up 1300 calories in a few months with no real fat gain. Thanks
Just noticed I'm your age too, if it matters regarding metabolism

My buddy Upped my cals to 3800 to start with about 60 fat and 275 protein I think. From there I dropped about 5 lbs and started gaining after a few weeks when we were in the the low 4000s range. There is some vodoo to that separating fats from carbs (see below breakdown)
There were no drugs or anything added during that time, just macro timing and slowly introducing calories 100-200 per week. Fats stayed around 60 g and protein upped to 315. Macro split as follows (we dropped the NTD macros towards the end to 2900, but most of the time off day cals were 3500-3700. We did weekly free meal as well
Training Day Macros: 4,900 Calories
315g Protein
775g Carbs
60g Fat
M1: 72g protein, 250g carbs
M2: 72g protein, 30g fat
Pre/Intra: 100g carbs
M3: 72g protein, 375g carbs
M4: 97g protein, 30g fat, 50g carbs
Non Training Day Macros:
2960
265g Protein
250g Carbs
100g Fat
M1: 60g protein, 250g carbs, 17g fat
M2: 60g protein, 17g fat
M3: 72g protein, 33g fat
M4: 72g protein, 33g fat

if your maintenance is actually only 2200 cals something isn't right unless you weigh 130lbs

In November you say 600g carbs and 100g fat, but that's 2400 calories of carbs and 900 calories of fats.. leaving 150 calories of protein?
So what were your macros to start out with, and what did you add with that 150 calories of weekly increase?

Don’t you piss out protein after a certain amount? Just what I’ve read on here...

I dunno all the science behind it but Jev is pretty good at pushing up cals with minimal fat gain and over feeding protein is part of it. Legs likely won't see progress with that but definitely opportunity to progress upper body which I need more than legsDo you think you would have had the same gains on your bulk if you had a home gym, with just an adjustable bench, two 100lb adjustable DBs, a pullup bar, and a dip station?

You've given me a bit of motivation to come out ofbulk retirementand try putting on a bit more mass in my 30s again. Maybe! My current goal was just to shred out and maintain. Constant ups and downs for the past decade have taken their toll on me.

OP you look great but you didn't really add any permanent muscle. The really tiny bit you added is just because your body isn't consuming it being at an extremely low bodyfat. That's completely normal and aren't gains because when you cut back down you'll lose it back again.
If not natty, disregard post.

How do you feel being 40 pounds heavier? I remember when I was down to the low 170s I felt more limber and more agile overall. Your body fat doesn't seem that high so you may still feel that way. When you really think about it, 40 pounds is a pretty significant increase in overall body weight. What are your plans moving forward? Cut down?
