This post has gone viral
While I don't believe this man should feel fear walking alone in his neighborhood (and if there is a legit threat to his safety it's obviously terrible), there doesn't seem to be any evidence presented that it isn't just in his head. Could the media narrative be instilling and perpetuating fear inside his head, where no threat exists? That doesn't even seem to be a consideration for him.
"But without them by my side, almost instantly, I morph into a threat in the eyes of some white folks. Instead of being a loving dad to two little girls, unfortunately, all that some people can see is a 6’2” athletically-built black man in a cloth mask who is walking around in a place where he doesn’t belong (even though, I’m still the same guy who just wants to take a walk through his neighborhood)."
Also not sure what he means by "reverse racism isn't real" - is he trying to claim that no white person experiences racism?

If black culture would put more emphasis on education and financial success then it wouldn’t seem strange to see a black man walking through a nice suburban neighborhood. Looting and rioting just enforces stereotypes that they are scary criminals. Not sure what else us white people are supposed to do. There are all kinds of incentives in all areas from college admissions to corporate hirings...they just gotta put in the work instead of blaming everyone else for their problems.

My sister today went to go pick up something from a ritzy neighborhood, she got out of her with her 3 kids (2 special needs adopted kids) and was approached by an older white lady asking what she was doing there and that the neighborhood doesn't want trouble or looters. She just continued to walk and ignored her. People really are crazy out there

I guess I just don't view all of these things as "atrocities". The 12 year old that was shot in the head, while walking to the gas station with his twin brother, around the same time as this thing blew up is an atrocity in my mind. But his GoFundMe has $3,000 towards a $8,000 funeral goal... while a man who has been involved in crime (sometimes violent) almost his entire life has over $2,000,000.
I obviously don't think he deserved to die, and I won't shed a tear for the cop if he gets thrown in prison for the rest of his life. But it really pains me to see people make it about human life in any capacity. None of these people really care about the people that died - and if they do, it's because they are very shallow humans with no scope. Be up front, I care about this human's life if it fits a social narrative. That is why this man's life matters to these people. And that's fine, but don't pretend you REALLY care about justice for this man.

We have plenty of stories as a black family of issues in white neighborhoods (mostly by older white ladies) including one where IN UNIFORM we were both approached and told that we don't deserve to wear the uniform. Happened in Augusta, Georgia right outside Ft. Gordon.. chit happens everyday

gnna be honest, if i see a random black guy in ghetto clothes (not like buddy in the op) walking around my neighbourhood, i stop and think about it.. obv not gonna overreact and call the cops or confront him like "we dont take kindly.." or anything but I will be like "hmmm who da fuk is this? have i seen him before?"
