Came to see if this thread had been posted yet. It's fuking sad. Can't believe Snyder is giving in to the PC police, especially when white SJWs are the only ones offended by the name.

No more "hail to the Redskins" also means there's not much purpose for the band anymore, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them go away also. Ravens will have the only band in the NFL.

Yep. I am from the state of Washington, so of course I am a Hawks fan. We have a small drum band but no song like thr Skins do. I have always liked the Redskins since i was a kid i think because i am part native, and they have the name 'Washington' in them.

Sad to see that all of the Indian teams are going way... sucks they give in the cancel culture....

The whole logic behind changing the name is retarded.

For the past 75 years, the word "redskins" has been used in only one context and that is as the name of a football team. In fact, as so-called racist terms go, how racist can it be if it is literally NEVER used in any other context than as the name of a football team. People in South Dakota don''t complain about drunken "redskins" causing trouble in town. People in California don't complain about crooked slot machines at "redskins" casinos. People in New Mexico don't complain about "redskins" stealing their cattle. The only time the word is ever used is when somebody is complaining about how the "redskins" lost a 4th quarter lead or how the "redskins" don't have a passing attack or how the "redskins" are under .500 and going to miss the playoffs again.

That's exactly how I see it. Look at all the other sports teams named after badasses or badass things. Patriots, Jets, Vikings, Timberwolves, hell they named a team after oilers and cheesepackers for crying out loud. You don't give something a name that you don't respect.

I live on one of the more prominent reservations in the US and aside from the Broncos (due to proximity) being the most popular team the Redskins are very well thought of and popular here. The only people here who have an issue with it are the professional protesters that offer nothing to society, you may have saw them in action at mt Rushmore last week.
