You should check some anonymous polls on the subject... people are not monogamous.

then you said not everybody cheats, you're just saying everyone is CAPABLE of cheating, because all your friends cheated

Add me to the never cheated club. None of my close friends have either. I'm a little surprised that people believe any polls on the internet nowadays, especially ones in regards to cheating? Where do you even find these polls and who tf participates? I am assuming it's some "tabloid" website, and the audience target audience is likely HEAVILY biased...

People of the non-cheaters club (lol): have you come across any of these polls in the past?

Taken directly from the study:

The Prevalence of Infidelity

Many research studies attempt to estimate exactly how many people engage in infidelity, and the statistics appear reliable when studies focus on sexual intercourse, deal with heterosexual couples, and draw from large, representative, national samples. From the 1994 General Social Survey of 884 men and 1288 women, 78% of men and 88% of women denied ever having EM sex(Wiederman, 1997). The 1991-1996 General Social Surveys report similar data;in those years 13% of respondents admitted to having had EM sex(Atkins, Baucom, & Jacobson, 2001). In the 1981 National Survey of Women, 10% of the overall sample had a secondary sex partner. Married women were the least likely (4%), dating women more likely (18%), and cohabiting women most likely (20%) to have had a secondary sex partner (Forste & Tanfer, 1996).

Studies on sexuality include infidelity data on both lifetime incidence and the immediate past (e.g., last year). This is the case because individuals may have difficulty remembering how many times infidelity occurred over the course of a lifetime, whereas they may have an easier time remembering the details of the immediate past (Wiederman, 2000). Further, comparing lifetime and immediate past data may help us to understand behavior trends over time. For example, Laumann et al. (1994)report that 25% of married men and 15% of married women admitted to having engaged in EM sex at least once. However, less than 4% of the sample reported EM sex in the previous year. This finding may indicate declining rates of infidelity in marriage, or it may reflect that different cohorts may engage in more infidelity than others. It also reflects the fact that much of sexual infidelity occurred more than 1 year in the past.

...

In general, based on the above data, we can conclude that over the course of married, heterosexual relationships in the United States,EM sex occurs in less than 25% of committed relationships, and more men than women appear to be engaging in infidelity (Laumann et al., 1994; Wiederman, 1997). Further, these rates are significantly lower in any given year. From studies of other countries, it appears that rates of infidelity are higher or lower in some places and that gender differences vary considerably (e.g., Knodel et al., 1997; Pulerwitz, Izazola-Licea, & Gortmaker, 2001; Solstad & Mucic, 1999).

I'm sorry but this simply doesn't add up to your idea that the majority of people cheat, unless there's more conflicting data later in the study that I haven't got to.

Also taken from that divorce lawyer website:

"6. Almost 50 percent of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation."

"42. Lack of commitment is the most common reason given by divorcing couples according to a recent national survey. Here are the reasons given and their percentages:
Lack of commitment 73%
Argue too much 56%
Infidelity 55%..."

55% of almost 50% of all marriages have infidelity cited as one of the reasons for the divorce.

The first studies you are quoting are early to mid 90's, and they conclude in a 25% of extra maritalintercourse. Nowadays with all the tools society has to connect with each other, social media, phones, etc... its a whole different world.

The second study you quoted is more recent, and it shows a 55% of infidelity on those who divorce.

Remember that all these numbers dont take into account the people that dont admit to cheating (due to avoiding legal or social backlash), or those who never find out they were cheated on, relationships that arent married (where cheating has MUCH more severe consequences than in regular relationships), people that havent divorced their partners even if they know they cheated (which is very common), etc.

tl;dr.

Being extremely positive, only 25% of marriages have some form of cheating that involes having intercourse, what about the other types of cheating? What about non-married relationships? People that do it and never tell their partners, etc.

What about those who dont cheat? Is it because they are good people, literally all of them? Or maybe because its a 40 year old fat dude with no options and never gets the chance to cheat? Does that make him a better person even if he would cheat if given the chance?

I mean, again im done antagonizing people that want to believe that cheating is a rare thing nowadays, but lets be honest, it isnt. Id bet my life that over 50% have done some kind of cheating in their lifetime, hell id say its close to 90% but at this point we just pulling numbers out of our asses.

What i do know for sure though is that im part of the never cheated crew. Feels good man

Agree to disagree then man. I'd rather stand on the side of a published article's numbers than try to take their numbers and "add all of the people who lie." I don't believe that core human behaviour changed THAT much over the course of 25 years, but it is definitely easier to get away with nowadays.

Somewhere in that study I'm pretty sure I read that the number went from ~25% to ~40% for people that aren't married but are in relationships.

Agree with your point about intercourse, I think most people have a broader definition of cheating than that which would definitely skew the numbers to be higher.

I think you underestimate how many "good" people there are out there thoughbeen on the misc too long buddy. Not sure what statistic I fall in lol. Currently single & seeing two girls, they both know that there is "another one" and there is no intent of anything becoming serious. Never have cheated while in a relationship and I dont think I (hopefully) ever will.

I dont think i ever will either, but we are a rare breed man.

I wish i could find an actual 2020 study showing results, but havent yet. I do believe that those 95' numbers would be VERY different today, and that 25% would easily reach 50% but again, its impossible to know.

On the absolute best case scenario, 28% of married people cheat nowadays. Absolute best case, according to that statistic showing that 55% divorces have "infidelity" listed as their reasons. What about the ones that divorce and never admit to it, maybe to keep a good relationship with their divorcees, to avoid paying extra money on the divorce, or simply because they have no legit reason to say the truth?

After that, you have to add up too the ones cheating and still married (which is a high number), also the non-married relationships, etc. Theres no way its not the majority, and thats without taking into consideration other types of cheating that dont involve dick and pussy.

Anyway, im beating on a dead horse now.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Majority of people have cheated and are cheated on. Look at some polls, look around you. Its human nature.

Cheating is normal, and if you dont believe so you are naive. People tend to hate me and attack me when i try to deliver cold harsh truths, but so be it.
what are you trying to get at? just because its normal doesnt mean its right

Like in my eyes a sloot can get gangbanged and still be a good person if it was all consensual and she was single and didn't really give a fuk and used birth control. She'd never be marriage material, but I could still be amicable towards her. I still view it as irresponsible but I can understand their desire to get gangbanged. If a sloot cheats on her bf, she's a bitch who is betraying someone's trust.
I can't believe I'm actually about to type this, but I agree with Wincel 100%.

Both are dealbreakers of course, but one is much more natural and normal than the other one.
Whatever helps you sleep at night buddy. People I know who've cheated say stuff like this all the time. Truth is cheating is one of the most dishonest things you can do, its not "human nature".
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
