Friend just plagarized my answer for the final exam .... fml

It was an online test and he didnt know the answer to the final question, so I just copypasted my answer and set it to him so he could take a look .... This dumbass then copypasted the entire thing to his answer form and he told me he was gonna paraphrase it, but it auto-submitted because he told me he ran out of time and it auto-submitted. So my answer literally word for word got submitted.


Dude was apologizing profusely but I'm so pissed at him and now I'm scared that this chit gets flagged and dont even want to imagine what kind of action they will take.




Mostly i'm just pissed at myself for being so stupid at helping out my friend ... fuk misc. pray for me srs.

Hate to say it but most universities and colleges have an anti-plagiarism algorithm especially those in essays and it's going to ping like a motherfuker

Same happened to me, send a complete practical work to one of my "friends" to help him out, told him to change everything : "Don't worry brah"

He sent his answer to me so I could check it after he sent it, didn't even bother to verify it thinking he did a good job, one week later, by curiosity I decide to open and see what he changed, ****ing nothing lmao, literal copy paste.

Here's what I did, went complete NC on the ***got, saved the whatsapp conversation in case SHTF (with me mentionning it was just to help and for him to change everything and him confirming it), luckily nothing was spotted and it went through but I learned my lesson, still don't talk much to the ***got.

NEVER EVER send your answer unless it's family or really really trusted friend (almost fam)

Pretty much this. Unless the professor is super fuking lazy, you'll fail the class unless he gives the option to have one of you prove who copied who.

The biggest cheating I was inadvertently apart of was in college. We had to do an engineering simulator, and it spits out every action (opening, closing, adjusting, alarm, failures, etc.) onto a word file. This word file would be like almost 10 pages with 350 individual text lines. For the final, we had to do this one last simulation which was really hard. Essentially a nuclear power plant was in critical failure mode and you had to get it back up online. However, I thought it was pretty easy and I went to the lab, did it in one shot. The program spit out the word file and I was good to go. The computers are ass old so I went to delete the word file and it froze and wouldn't close out. I decided to type the word "Penis" in a random line on the report and then shut down the computer. A week later 90% of the kids taking the class are called in, me being one of them. Apparently, we all had the exact same print-out for the lab and we would all fail the class. Turns out, the computer ended up not shutting down, and the printout was still there. They should all relatively be the same, but not exact. I think 10 kids found it and shared it with their friends, who then shared that and so on. So now 60 kids have the same lab and I'm like what the fuk. I'm sitting next to some kid and I look at his report and I start to laugh. I raise my hand and tell the professor that I did the work, but I did not share it. That my computer froze and I thought I turned it off. He asks me how can I prove it, and I chit you not, I told him to check someones paper, page 7, line 23, middle of the sentence. He goes.... Penis??? Then he checks the next one, and the next one, and then he checks mine, which does not have the penis in it, thus proving my innocence. srs.

yeah you might be phucked OP, failing may be the least of your worries, but maybe you get off with a warning idk.

if it's an online assignment it may use online software such as turnitin to detect plagarism? If it is a whole bunch of people taking the same exam and doesn't use plagarism detection software there may be multiple markers. Or maybe they may not notice.


Let this be a lesson though and never put yourself in this position, it's a stupid thing to do.

Damn dude, sorry to hear that. I learned the same thing the hard way. Had two friends copy, both altered it but not enough.

Prof gave us a verbal lashing for about an hour but ultimately let it slide.

I know, I'm mostly angry at myself ... There wasnt a turnitin submission, just submission via the uni portal, but considering his answer is literally the same as mine, it might get flagged while she's marking it.

I'm just praying that the lecturer doesnt realise its the same and that my grade history gives me some leeway should they ever escalate this (3.89 gpa average and got on the deans list for 2 sems)

Hmm I think its only one teacher tbh, because shes been doing both our lectures and tutorial classes .... Unless she has an assistant that I dont know about or something. But yeah, im sure there's a lot of content people have taken from the Slides she provided us and google, because it was an online test with no sort of monitoring at all. Literally just log on and do your exam in the allocated time. No browser safety program involved, we didnt have to put on a webcam or anything, no turnitin submission. Just a normal mcq + a couple structured questsions all done within the uni portal.
