I bring my wife coffee and breakfast in bed every morning!
I do my best to make sure what ever she is driving that day is clean.
I buy flowers every now and then for no reason.
I take our daughter out on small ventures, so she can have some time to herself.

"Flower Fridays"? How much does the average low end flower bouquet cost these days? About $20? Probably closer to $40 if you're getting anything beyond the bare basics? So you must be spending like $1-$2k /year exclusively on a weekly flower giving ritual. All for an item that simply withers away and dies within a week of buying them, hence you basically toss out the old ones and throw new ones in. I'm not against giving flowers to women as gifts, but every week? Lol, that's excessive, and I guarantee you she stopped actually caring about the fact that you do it within the first two months. After that, she's mostly just acted like she likes it as much as when you first started doing it just to make you feel good. Meanwhile, she's secretly thinking you're being an unoriginal and corny geek when you do it now, for the most part.

As for the chocolates anytime it's "that time of the month for her", again - it's a corny gift, and being given far too frequently. Doing literally anything with too much frequency makes it lose value. Then you double down with that flawed concept by making crap like flowers and chocolates your go-to gift items to her on a regular basis. No offense, but you sound like one of those guys who talks about actively enjoying crappy romance films like The Notebook rather than simply sitting through them with your gf/wife to make her happy the same way she'll sit through crap you like for your sake.

You need to mix it up more and quit making gift buying such a standard staple of your love life with her. You'd be better off saving 95% of that ridiculous flowers ane chocolates budget of yours and using it to share some extra actual experiences with her, srs.

3 years is still pretty early on in terms of legit long-term relationships, even if you do live with her. Chit doesn't start getting real until you've either been together longer than that, and/or start taking the big leaps like getting married and having kids with them. Get back to me after you've been *married* to her for a few years too, and how things are if you have kids with her. You'll eventually end up learning the hard way that corny ritualistic gifts aren't gonna sustain that relationship if you don't figure it out before then. The corny gifts are fine; the problem is you're doing it far too often, to the point where you seem uncreative and boring about it. She's eventually gonna get bored of it too.

What is it with threads like this being an absolute magnet for incels, FAs, and bitterly divorced persons like this ^^.

Talk about *cringe*.

The guys in failed relationships or who never had relationships at all are the masters of female thought processes, right? LOL.

What is it with guys like you who automatically label any opinions that don't fit your narrative of love being simple and corny like what is shown in movies as being incels/bitter divorced people/red pill?

I'm not espousing incel ideas. I'm just being realistic. Things like romance and even marriages can be great things under the right circumstances. Having said that, to actually make them work and able to last extreme amounts of time like 10 - 40 years, they require actual work and commitment from both parties. People who try to trivialize it and dumb the concepts of long term relationships/marriage down to the type of crap displayed in romcom movies gives people some seriously warped expectations of what long term romantic love is really all about. I would argue that the unrealistic expectations people have about it like it's supposed to be one big fairytale conrtibutes to a lot of failed marriages/long term relationships.

Also, it amuses me when some of these miscers like to act like being with a woman for a few years is some big deal and makes *them* the relationship experts. If you haven't been married and/or had kids and are in a relationship under 5 years, you're likely still going to have some aspects of the honeymoon phase lingering on that give you rose tinted glasses about things. Because in situations like that, most relationships haven't even had the time/opportunities to experience actual difficult situations beyond mostly petty bs.

Let's have a quick refresher, for my amusement:

That's "realistic"? In a few sentences you: (i) complain about the financial outlay (one of your biggest concerns in your divorce); (ii) proclaim that his partner "stopped caring about it within the first two months"; and then (iii) proclaim that she's just "acting like she likes it", while (iv) "thinking you're an unoriginal corny geek".

It honestly amuses me how threads about love and relationships automatically (and without fail) attract posters on this forum like you, who think that because you failed in your marriage that everyone else is going to have a similar experience. Newsflash: some of us won't; and the statistics are against you in that projection as well. But keep coping about finance, commitment, interest in a marriage - everyone here knows your great expertise in the matter.

OP, can I ask what the things you do to show him you love him are? Not asking to dig at you, because it clearly sounds like you appreciate these things. I am genuinely just curious.

EDIT: Mainly because it feels like the topic of the OP was little things that the "royal you" does in order to express love but I had only seen things somebody had done for you but the thread suggests vice-versa

They are making a bit of a comeback. I have even come across these "board game cafes" where you pay an hourly fee, pay for cake and tea, and play any of their (this one had 100s) boardgames and games. Some pinball machines too.

I played my wife in battleship and RP'd the hell out of the moment.
