What's your opinion of hobbyist bicyclists wearing all the equipment?

Obviously a helmet (even though they're cringe IMO unless you're bombing dirt and rock hills on off-road trails).

But then there are guys with the entire spandex speed suit, toe shoes, camel back, reflective vests, mirror on the helmet, etc. etc.

It's like settle down boomer, it's not that serious.

Imagine you decided to pick up say basketball as a hobby, which is fine.

But you couldn't go play unless you had: new Lebron's, Kobe/Iverson sleeves (for both arms), leg sleeves, headband, wristbands, etc.

Well that's the other thing: I could see if you were super serious about it, then fine get all the stuff.

But if they were that serious about it they would also be in shape from a history of riding.

Imagine a guy who had a collection of motorcycles but could barely actually ride a motorcycle.

It's like so you're kind of accumulating all the stuff to give off the vibe you're some sort of expert, when you haven't actually put in the time?

if you ride a bike in the street with zoomers that cant get off of their phone and boomers that cant figure out the computer on their dashboard, you sure as hell should be wearing a helmet and reflective vest to get their attention

I raced motocross for years, bought new cool looking gear each season and got a nice set of wraps for my bike. I was never going pro but its fun to play the part and its all part of the hobby...

its just dorks that finally found something they're remotely good at and go all in and end up inadvertently becoming annoying with it.

There are certain 'sports' which appeal to dorks. I've noticed it's mainly cycling, archery and indoor climbing. Because being a skinny twink is an advantage, and they require little coordination to be decent.

Not one to judge but the moment they take up a lane going side by side in droves is when it starts getting annoying. Also they have a propensity to not stop at stop signs/reds. I get the whole "save energy and cruise" chit but don't cross when I can still go through.

I've got this problem where, when I'm in the city at a stop sign waiting for a gap, cars like to stop in the middle of the road and try to wave me through as if I'm a pedestrian at an imaginary crosswalk, which is damn dangerous.

I feel if I was dressed like a ******* this wouldn't happen so often, because the absolute most someone will do to accommodate spandex riders is swerve.
They got little baby legs that stand so low
you got to pick 'em up just to say hello.
