Are you scared of spiders?

Are you scared of those 8 legged nasties who sometimes invade our homes? How do you deal with them, kill or evict?

Also, as men, has it fallen to you to be the designated pest controller of your household?

The reason I ask is that I currently have a huge spider trapped under a washing up bowl and am too scared to lift it to actually deal with it as the spider was unbelievably quick and I will probably lose it... and I am alone, I can’t do this guys.

Not going to make it.

When I was a kid, yes. Not anymore, with that said, I would be a bit more fearful of the bigger ones. Still, I have no problem just getting a Kleenex and just killing them now.

spiders are cool. i saw a hairy black spider in my basement and i nearly dapped him up. told him keep doing ya thing

now i have centipedes and theyre EVIL. and i will kill them all. one flew up on my bed and on me. i never been so disgusted. now im on a personal mission to kill them cawk suckers. fking summer bugs man

cant wait for winter to come and they all die

When I was younger, I would catch wolf spiders by hand to feed to my gecko. None of that stuff bothers me, I would also go to the field at a nearby bird sanctuary and catch garter snakes bare handed. They'd be biting all over my arms, zero fuks given

when i was young i used to catch daddy long legs and rip their legs off one by one. i know its fked up now but i was a kid. now i see them and im like sry bud. enjoy free rent

This one is huge. I don’t think we have poisonous spiders in Uk but I have never seen one this big. I can’t even be in the same room as it and I was part-way through washing up!

It’sa usually plastic bowl that you out in your sink to wash plates etc up in. Useful!

My wife is terrified of the creepy crawlies so I'm the designated bug smasher. Spiders don't bother me. When I used to read meters I'd run my face into at least 1 spider web every morning. You get numb to it after a while. The only poisonous spiders we have are brown recluses and black widows. These are the creepiest ones we have



They get pretty big and their webs are thick so if you get them in your mouth or face they are hard to get off.

Not really, there's just always that little part of me though that wonders - "what if this happens to be a poisonous one". Plus I don't really know how identify a brown recluse, so any spider could potentially be a brown recluse as far as I know.

There are these fast running spiders that come down from my attic, I think the same thing as the OP has, from the outside and bite me while I'm sleeping. Caught one in the act on my leg while I was falling asleep. Killed a bunch over the years as they accidentally show themselves. Surprisingly fast. And somewhat smart. That reminds me I have to put up my netting again. Wish the nature folks were so adamant about not screwing with the ecosystem. Like how we just released some scientifically engineered male mosquitos that breed females that can't reproduce, we should target all these nasty critters (like ticks) for extinction.

absolutely terrified of them but it depends which ones

every spider gets killed on sight but those dont scare me, it's the big hairy ones where you can see the disgusting face and 8 eyes. that chit gives me a physical reaction.

Generally speaking, they're harmless to humans.
I've always had a designated spider jar to catch and release to the outside environment.

Much fear and ignorance exists regarding spiders....but, they are unattractive and can understand why some have the phobia.
Although, it's an unwarranted/unnecessary 'phobia'.
They're fascinating arthropods.

Spiders are your friend. I would rather have spiders than the pests they eat in my abode. Plus they make for a great snack in a pinch.

I don’t mind spiders, they kill other bugs. There’s one in the bedroom ceiling corner I named. Black widows I’ll kill, that’s the only dangerous spiders here



But anything black and yellow that flys scares the crap out of me because I’m deathly allergic

Same, I don’t even get a chance to look at them properly anyways so even if I knew which were the evil ones and which were just the bad ones, I would just panic anyways.

**** I hate them. Wish we could eradicate them all with affecting the ecosystem. On that note.... would erasing headlice from existence actually cause any problems in the food chain?

I’m phobic of spiders. I’m slowly learning to chill with the little ones, and kill them myself. But if it’s a big one, or the ones that jump, fook that I’m out! Thank God my husband isn’t afraid of them. He’s my hero when it comes to those horrible creatures.
