It's funny but in old Finnish movies or books people just visit each other's houses without any planning. They would just show up and sit down and that would be totally normal.
Then ten minutes afterwards the man or woman of the house would ask "would you like some coffee".

Wow that sounds nice. No phones, email, or chat in my society. Internet is strictly for information, entertainment, and contact with other societies. You want interaction, you stop by for some fukking coffee.

I remember reading sapiens and the author describing hunter gatherer life and explaining how it was more social/fun and less stressful than our current life.

Well if you're a nomad, you cannot acquire stuff because you cannot carry it. So you'll never be jealous of your neighbor having more stuff.

Also, there's no reason for marriage. You're not settling down, so you don't have to have a contract to make sure your children inherit your house because there's no house.

I was listening to some podcast about Indians and the guy said that every time a white child was kidnapped by the Indians, the kidnapped person never wanted to return to white society.

Nothing wrong with possessions in my opinion. Having nice chit just makes shared experiences better.

Sebastian Junger on JRE? It sounds like the one. And he was saying that the pilgrims themselves even noticed the trend, saying "why don't any of the captured Natives want to adopt our lifestyle?" or something to that effect. Life in those tight-knit societies was definitely far more communal and engaging for the individual. Everyone had an essential role to play, it seems. I think it was in that same podcast where they mentioned some anthropologist who spent time with pygmies in central Africa somewhere and he was saying that in all the time he spent living there that he never encountered anyone who displayed behaviors we associate with depression. That's really interesting. Even in speaking to my dad (grew up in the 50s), I've learned that people were much happier and more decent in those days despite having considerably worse living conditions and far fewer material possessions.

Well it's not practical if you're always on the move. You kill whatever you eat and you can't really store it.

I wish I would care about stuff. I've many times thought about how nice that would be.

but vast majority of their lives is a lie

edit: i'm not sure if this is the one i found before, but here are words from the mouth of a woman, it basically falls in line with the men have "strength" and women are "cunning". my point is less about her content within but her major point
For survival. When women lie or obscure the truth, most of the time they are doing so to protect themselves. For most of history, men have had extraordinary control over the lives of the women in their family, including the right to beat them without social condemnation (as long as they left no lasting injuries and did not kill the woman in question). Being blunt and honest with the men in her life could easily cause a woman a great deal of pain and suffering or even death.

Sadly, this is still true for a shamefully large percentage of women in the world today.

Women are socialized to lie, even now, especially in places where gender roles are rigidly enforced by society.

So when a woman tells you she has a boyfriend when you keep asking her out (but she doesn't actually have a boyfriend), she's actually saying “You are unpredictable and your inability to accept my refusal makes me feel extremely unsafe. Please leave me alone.”

In any situation where there is a power imbalance between two individuals, lying is one of the tools the less-empowered individual may need to use in order to protect themselves, regardless of gender.

And when women could historically be violently punished for things they had no control over, such as the gender of their child, it's no surprise that women learned to manage the men in their lives using lies and deceit as necessary, and taught their daughters to do the same.

One of the more wonderful things about modern life is the way we are bringing these issues out into the light and addressing the underlying problems that cause and encourage them. It's no longer socially acceptable to beat your wife or daughters in most Western countries, for example.

I look forward to the day when both men and women can be their best selves without needing to protect themselves from violence with lies and deceit.
they likely lie as a result of self-preservation, even if they don't consciously recognize it. they likely know they are lying but feel entitled to it because it's their way of preserving themselves

If we think of dating like a club, women are the bouncers and men are the patrons. The bouncers face different issues than the patrons and neither can really relate to each other because their circumstances are so different. Women have traditionally been the gatekeepers, as can be seen how most women have no problem finding a plethora of guys trying to get in, so from a negative point of view to them it can be seen as an overwhelming deluge, whereas men view women (the bouncers) as something of an obstacle preventing them from getting inside (both metaphorically and literally) and finding happiness so to speak. Since they are on opposite sides for the most part, neither will be able to truly understand the others' struggle, however that does mean they are without adversity. Women have blackpills too, but they are different from male blackpills.

I can't really imagine what kind of problems they face, but it probably has something to do with the fact that most guys are looking for a pump and dump, but then again a lot of girls are looking for that too. I would say another is the fact that when they get older most men will go for younger girls. Age to women is like height for men; it's something you can't control but will still be ruthlessly discriminated against for it and it causes both groups to be bitter about it if you're on the losing end.
