well the court rules on all kinds of important matters.
Lefties are worried about abortion laws, gay marriage. That's unlikely to change they are just delusional.
But if there are any concerns after the election over it's validity... it could be the court that decides who is president

Nope. It is already 5-4 For “conservatives” if you consider Roberts as conservative. He sometimes swings the other way though.

2000 election was decided by the Supreme Court.
Gun rights
Abortion
Healthcare (Obamacare..)
Any state legal challenge could potentially be taken all the way up to the Supreme Court, so they can decide any law valid or invalid. And since you can sue over most anything, there is almost no limits to SCOTUS power. The buck stops there.

They interpret all laws in accordance to the constitution.

What they say is pretty much final unless it can successfully be argued to overturn.

Example: there was a supreme court case that rules Police officers can no arrest you in a retaliatory manner for what you say to them. This means no matter what state/city you live in, that is an effective law/defense if it ever happens to you.

If you meet memcop and he's on the job IRL you can call him whatever you want and he can't arrest you or cite you for it. If he does, you sue for infringement and you win monies.

Yep. Right now there are 3 solid leftist: Breyer, Kagan, and Sotomayor. There are various theories as to why but Roberts is a sort of sometimes leftist. He is a weak #4 vote for them now. The left is in serious trouble.

The right has Thomas, Gorsuch, Alito, and for the most part Kavanaugh as solid conservatives. Adding 1 more would give conservatives a clear majority. I'm not sure that has ever happened. It will probably be short lived though, as I understand Thomas wants to retire. If Trump wins, I expect him to retire very soon after the election. Which would be a loss as he's IMO the GOAT justice, but Trump would (hopefully) pick another solid person to replace him.

The SCOTUSA determines whether a law is constitutional or not. Any case brought before them is usually going to set some important precedent. They are supposed to decide BASED on the constitution. Unfortunately, it's become highly partisan, with individual judges almost always siding along political lines. Also, they have become much more powerful than they were ever intended to be... in effect, making or unmaking law from the bench. The legislature is supposed to serve as a check and balance on their power by approving who is appointed by the president, but that approval process also falls along party lines these days.

Ginsburg was placed on the court by Clinton when his party also controlled both houses of Congress. There was no ability to stop her by the GOP. She was unqualified for the spot, but was pushed through by the democRATs who knew she'd be a reliable, far left vote on ALL cases coming before her. For 27 years she was. Highly partisan and to be honest, a very nasty person. She's routinely made disparaging public comments about the president, but refused to ever recuse herself due to blatant bias.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-cas...lf-11583367515

The libtards are caterwauling because they've lost a highly partisan justice on their side and they are afraid Trump will replace her with a true constitutionalist who decides cases based on constitutional principles instead of along partisan political lines. Not only does Trump have the power to submit a name before the election, but the senate has the power to approve his nominee before the election. They know it. They also know it would be 100% legal and constitutional to do so. They are hoping they can shame him into not doing so because they know that if Biden wins, they'll get to name somebody to replace her that is just as leftwing. Too bad. They've spent 4 years demonizing Trump and pulling all sorts of tricks to try and stifle his agenda. HE SHOULD IGNORE THEM AND NOMINATE A SUITABLE CANDIDATE IMMEDIATELY. It's too important a spot not to, especially since the democRATs are rigging the election as we speak such that when they lose, they'll be prepared to appeal all the way to the supreme court (SCOTUSA). Basically the same chit they pulled in 2000 unsuccessfully, but they've had 20 years to refine their plan and are ready to unleash their 2nd attempt at removing a legally elected president via the court system befor inauguration day.

BTW, she has been sick and dying for years, but she thought she could outlast Trump's presidency before stepping down or dying. She was wrong. LOL. Bury her with a bag of marshmallows... she's gonna need them where she's going.

Lifelong conservative, former republican checking in... the republican party never misses a chance to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Unfortunately, it's not just Murkowski and Romney who are the problem. DemocRATs are always 100% united behind their picks because they are threatened behind closed doors by their party leaders. The GOP is too soft to do the same, which is why there have always been a handful of arseholes ruining it for the rest of the party. That used to be people like McCain, Graham, Specter, etc. Now it's Murkoswki, Collins, Romney, etc. They never learn from their mistakes. One reason I'm not a republican anymore. They truly are the stupid party. I'll always be a conservative and vote that way, but the GOP cannot be trusted.

So let's back up a bit....Our source of powers are split into three bodies that are co-equal. Executive (president), Congress (house and senate), and judiciary (supreme court).

Our 9 justices are nominated by presidents over the years. We have two very distinct political parties that are in opposition to one another. The court decisions are considered and rendered. The more political appointees from one party the more cases are considered and interpreted in that party's favor. Right now, the court is in favor of conservatives and will be even more so now as even some of the more conservative justices that were supposed to be in favor of trump's party decided against him. This will further block such decisions.

Also it takes 4 of the 9 justices to agree to hear a case. That's impactful as well as ther are 3 libs now and a vacant seat.

The senate confirms the nomination. Trumps party controls that body right now.

Last time there was a vacancy the same body told Obama we're waiting for an election because they would block his nominee. Some say its hypocrisy. It's not. Its politics and they had no juice to seat an Obama nominee.

They have 53R to 47D with Pence as the tie breaker if needed. We can lose 3 and still seat.

Though I would see them abstaining which isn't a big deal. Up to 6 can abstain and Pence can tie break.

She was the law. Regardless of what we think she should have sourced. It was her vote to make and her opinion to publish.
