literally 4 blocks from where my ex-fiance lives. That area was always pretty safe with rich old couples, but there's been an increase in homeless and schizo's over the years. I thought the city was a dump before 2020, can't imagine how much worse its got.

I live here; you don't have to show me chit. When COVID was just starting, the Capital One near me was robbed twice in one week. The CVS near me - they have to lock down the Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and have permanent security patrolling, because of thieving. But this isn't "violent crime". That there's a massive crime uptick in NYC (auto theft, burglaries, etc.) is different from "violent crime". Looting (which happened a chitload here, which I condemn - I believe in "stand your ground" law, and that looters should be shot) skyrocketed out of control thanks to an idiotic Mayor.

That's my point.

Don't get me started on 'defund' the police; the police need better training, better perks, better salaries, and need to command more respect. If anything, American police (across the board) needmorefunding, lol. Or else every State should adopt laws that empower people living there to defend themselves as they see fit.
