How do you lose your fear of death?
How do you lose your fear of death and fear in general? Do you have to have a near death experience? Meditation and psychedelics have killed a lot of my anxiety and worry but I've still got a ways to go. Is facing death head on the only way or is there a mental practice that can get you to this point? I read about heroes and warriors from throughout history who are said to have been totally fearless and calm in battle. I see pictures of Buddhist monks lighting themselves on fire in the 60s. How did they reach this point?

By accepting that whether you're afraid or not the end result will be the same. You WILL die regardless.
So why not choose the less stressful option of not worrying about it?

By accepting the free gift of eternal life by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, then you'll never die.

I used to be terrified of dying before I actually accomplished anything. I would go to sleep at night afraid I’d die in my sleep before making a difference srs.
Once I felt pretty good about what I’d done in life/career, I ceased feeling that way srs.
I still want to live a long life with my wife/family and keep working at a job that I love. But I’m not afraid of death anymore.

i died once bro. it's not that bad. i had pneumonia when i was like 6 or 7. couldn't breathe, and i lost consciousness. it was all white. i don't remember what happened days or months afterwards. except that i had asthma after. all i remember is seeing the white. like whiting out not blacking out
the actual dying part is scary for sure. depending how you die

“Let your worry go. Go on the attack. Do what you can with what you have control over, and what is not in your control is not worth worrying about. Remember this domino philosophy: There are only two things really worth worrying about either you're sick or you're well. If you're sick, either you get well or you die. If you get well, there's nothing to worry about. If you die, there are two things to worry about-either you go to heaven or to hell. If you go to heaven, there's nothing to worry about. If you go to hell, you'll be so busy partying with all your friends there will be nothing to worry about.” – Pat Croce – “110%”

It probably is a 'mental' frame of mind thing as you elude to.
Living in fear of this inevitable robs one of the joy of just being alive.
Rather than fearing death I'd suggest concentrating on cherishing the life one has and the joy that can be experienced.
Knowing one will go EOL at some point is what makes life worth living and we only have one life.
Regarding your above comment I have plenty of (military) experience and I'm lucky to be sitting here typing this.
So...maybe my experiences molded my attitude in this context.
I'm sure you can overcome this irrational mindset and I'm sure you'll get many various comments on this subject.

This is the same type of mentality as “why would I get into a relationship if we’re gonna breakup”. Accept that everything will end and enjoy the best of it. Nihilism doesn’t accomplish anything in this world.

Death is the greatest gift in life.
Imagine being immortal, really think about it...it would be hell. No way out even after you lived for 500 billion years. Even the most sane man that ever lived would go insane. No matter how much you suffer, death will set you free.
Use the notion of death to your advantage in life, don't be scared of it.

Death is when it's all over.
Once you're dead you're not going to care that you're dead, so why worry about it now?
Getting old scares me,
my kids moving away,
my friends dying,
being with a bunch of geriatrics in a home or alone in my home except for the token visits.
Losing your strength
Losing your memories
Losing your mental acuity
Losing your mobility
Pain when you stand up
Pain when you sit down
Death will be sweet relief

stop with this "near death experience makes you lose your fear of death" nonsense. I had a liver transplant in 2018, days away fromm death. It was a miracle I got it in time. Ever since, every day I'm alive, death scares the living fuk out of me. Iwish their was a medication I could be on which could reduce this feeling. Everyday is pure hell fearing death.

I saw a documentary by a movie director from way back named Ingmar Bergman. He had strong anxieties about death, and made movies about "death" which helped him process it. Maybe his movies can help out
