Stalled strength for it at 140kg and stopped doing it for program changing reasons. Going to get back to it and just do it again but nothing too heavy to mess with my back. It honestly is a pretty good progressive overloading exercise.

Disagree.

It's all about fatigue management. Sort that out, get your deadlift 3x your bw for reps and your entire back / posterior chain will grow / strengthen.

People who get injured push way past their means with mediocre form and don't recover from session to session lol

This. That said, i don't think you need to pull from the floor, RDL is a superior choice for most people in the context of bodybuilding

Deadlifts really are a bad exercise that don't do much. Besides phucking up your back it doesn't optimally workout back muscles an will further hinder you back progress due to fatique. Imagine deadlifting then wanting to do pullups and rows. Haha, good luck. Deadlifts are for ugly fat insecure *******s who probably have small cawks. You want optimal back growth?? Do some phucking pullups you lazy chit.

Risk-reward ratio just isn't there. Every single person I know who deadlifts regularly, has at some point suffered a back injury.

Replaced deadlifts with hang power cleans. Never going back. Better on my back, more power/speed focused. Better crossover to my judo

deadlifting is as much of a back workout as it is a leg workout since there isnt really a substantial eccentric phase especially when you let gravity handle the the weight. Its only a high risk exercise if you dont know how to do it

Deadlifts on leg day, pullups and rows on pull day.

Not exactly true. If you practice slow and controlled reps, and deficit deadlifts then they are most certainly effective as a leg exercise. But most people (aside from powerlifters) dont put on that effort

Usually ya'll girl "Ego" be fcuking ya'll up with deadlifts. The exercise in itself isn't deadly at all. If you put 10 pounds on each side of a 45 lb bar everybody can do a deadlift, it's when Ego kicks through the door.

Form has been the fcuking foundation of this whole lifting chit before weigh before the big bang was created. Wood rather do 7 sets of 5 with weights in the mid 300s(tree fiddy) with good form with 1-2 minute breaks in between rather than fcuk around in the upper 300's(375 and over with no belt) and U can't fcuk bitches anymore cause da byek gave out and ya'll not even 30 yet.

I've hurt my back a few times, so I quit doing them. I blame myself more than the exercise, but still...phucking your lower back sucks, and I don't care to risk it anymore.

You're right, know your limits, if mid 300s is a weight you're comfortable with for reps which should be around 60-75% (80% of one's max and up, where you can only do 1-5 reps, you're drifting into snap city) you can take 2 minutes before going back at it. If 245lbs is a weight you're comfortable with deadlifting for reps with good form, you'll be good resting if not 1 minute, than in between or 2 mins.

Its people who get on that Ego trip, fcuk up 3 of their vertebrae up, and want to ban deadlifting

I'd never do them heavy and probably never without a hex bar. Not practical to my life. I do plenty of core work and legs, and I train back on back specifically.

Deadlifts don’t “phuck up your back” unless you lift with retarded form and even then, loads of people deadlift heavy with dogchit form and their backs are fine. Am I saying you should do the same? No. But deadlifting properly is only going to strengthen and improve the health of your back. Don’t listen to washed up chiropractors who got their license in 2004 and don’t understand basic exercise physiology.

Deadlifts are for “ugly fat insecure *******s”? Being fat actually makes deadlifting harder. Extra muscle is good, but if you’re just fat, your gut is going to get in the way. In other words, it’s going to prevent you from maintaining an optimal pulling position. This is part of the reason why some really fat guys tend to be able to squat more than they deadlift (especially in the case of equipped lifters).

Pull-ups for optimal back growth? There’s more to back than lats and teres. If you want developed traps, rhomboids, erectors, rear delts etc. you need more than pull-ups. Apart from rear delts, deadlifts hit all of those muscles hard as hell - as well as many others not specifically part of the back. For rear delts, you need horizontal pulls.

It’s also probably the single most functional lift you can do. Picking something up from the floor. Pure primal animality. Improves confidence, posture and back health. Builds ass, hamstrings (helps maintain knee health especially if you do alot of Olympic squatting) and calves (yes it does. Film yourself doing deadlifts and tell me your calves don’t flex).

Is it the best exercise you can do for mass? Arguably not, due to the recovery demands. But it sure as hell will put a lot of meat on you - as long as you eat.
