Honestly I have to agree. 90s was goat. Nothing compares to Friday night sleepovers with your friends, usually in this order,
Get off school
Play outside for a few hours.
Mom brings everyone to the movie store
Rent some horror movies and some dope ps1 games.
Pizza hut for dinner
Watch movies and play video games all night.
Next day spent at the skate park or the mall.
Good times.

Not going to have the rose-tinted goggles, as I did love the 90's and early 00's, but people are basically reminiscing about their childhood. So every generation can talk about the good times of when they were young. The 2000's was still a lot of fun, and technology was starting to enter the market (back when online gaming was starting to enter the market).

But once social media took over, it really took a nosedive (as others have said).

yeah half life 1 on PC playing at 1024x768 or higher, that chit was amazing, really next level stuff at the time.

ps1 and N64 were huge leaps. Dreamcast was a huge leap.

Now when ps4 and ps5 came out, the difference between new games and last gen, just isnt that much of a difference. oh look some textures are higher and crisper, big fooking deal

Most of the flaws of present day are caused by late stage capitalism and hyperconsumerim. Everyone being an NPC clone who just consumes whatever is thrown at them is just the end goal of a late capitalist consumerist society. The constant exposition to the same consumer oriented media (both social media and conventional media) damages the psyche of individuals and transformes them into addicted narcisits or man childs.

The soyboy cuck consumer, the instagram toth, the marvel and nintendo consoomer, the cuck who changed religion for politics either left or right winger. They're all produced by the same system who constantly bombards them with endless forms of consumption. That's why the past seems better, late century we were of course in full blown capitalism but the consumerism channels where more restricted. Now with smartphones and algorythms that now your every want and desire it's impossible to escape.
