As a youngster my parents made me often mow the lawn. It was tough love, not to mention humiliating, but it showed me how the other side lives. I used this lesson to avoid the career path of a landscape tradie and a tradesman in general. #blessed

Fences, roofing, did the flooring in the last place I was in, asphalt paving, siding, eaves trough/soffit/facia, was a drywall apprentice for a bit, clean grocery stores (not sure that is a tradie job), masonry, painting (just in my place or friends places), and currently I do concrete work. Have also operated skid steers, front end loaders, mini excavators and backhoes a little bit while in the asphalt/concrete work.

ITT op doesn’t understand what a tradie does.

My only tradie type job was a construction laborer which included concrete work, digging a lot of footings, basic framing, foundation forming, etc. Did this and went to school at night. It motivated me to get my degree and get a desk job.

Learned a lot. Wish I’d pay more attention to the framing aspect. Would love to be a home contractor.
