My condolences, OP. It must be terrible to lose a child this way. I've heard that miscarriages are especially tough on mothers. Take good care of yourself so that you can be there for your wife as much as possible. I really hope your next is delivered safely and healthily. All the best.

Sorry to hear.

Went through pretty much the same thing with our first potential child.

Wife was pregnant and so happy. She was several weeks in and we expected to hear the heart beat for the first time that visit. Ultra sound tech starts the scan and is pretty quiet. She leaves the room and the PA comes in and basically says sorry there is no heart beat.

Its terrible. One of the worst feelings ever.

She had a D&C and wanted to try again as soon as we could.

Fast forward a couple years...We now have 2 boys....5 and 3.

Ya, exactly the same, but the ultrasound was done on Monday, but there was no doctor available to decipher it. So here we wait a fukin week, thinking all is good and get the call yesterday.

Awesome it worked out for ya and I know it will for us. Pretty chitty to expect the best going into an ultrasound tho.

Worst thing...absolute worst thing is that apparently it still has to "come out". Its just not alive in there.... Wife is gonna lose it

I keep telling her this is for the best because odds are it wouldn't have been healthy.

Its nature and just wasnt meant to be.

I hate the whole pregnancy process. After the first it ruined it for me. Im a pretty solid/stable person, but every time i went in for one of those ultrasound visits I was nervous they were going to tell me something was wrong. Pregnancy is tough. I really dont know many people who just sail right through. It always seems like something unexpected pops up that makes people nervous...blood sugar levels off, unexpected bleeding, baby under/over weight, etc etc. Everyone always has a story. Im sure you'll be all good in the future.

Prayers and best of luck.

That's awful, OP. I'm really sorry to hear that. One of my best bud's girlfriend miscarried. They have 2 kids now, but I remember how hard it was on her.

Be there for your girl. You both have one another to lean on.

Really sorry to hear about how you have to wait outside. That must be the worst. I think I'd be a wreck waiting out there.

Rather embarrassingly, I used to think like that as well. In my mind I was like "how attached can you be to an unborn baby?" But now I guess I realize that it was someone you already had love for and who you expected to care for for the next 20 years. Your comment about preparing the room for the kid kind of put that into real terms. I think we often have a hard time showing compassion and understanding for things we haven't experienced.

Op I’m so sorry. My heart hurts for you and your wife right now and I wish I could just give you a big hug. I had a miscarriage in August and it was painful, physically and mentally. We are still praying and trying for our rainbow baby.

The waiting is the hardest part. Just know you’re not alone and it’s ok to have the full range of emotions about it all.

Personally, I wasn't as bummed as others. I was more sad for my wife than myself. Mainly because it was so early and my mind hadn't wrapped around the whole parenting concept yet. My wife still thinks about it sometimes, though we do have a son now.
