Need advice for my rich friend
I'm not sure just how rich, but lets pretend several million cause it's at least that. But frankly it doesn't matter.
He came to me the other day, feeling kind of down (I believe he trusts me more than most people) and was looking for investment/business advice. He feels the weight of his wealth you know, he understands he lives a privileged life, and he feels obligated to do something useful with it - other than live comfortably on the interest and divs for the rest of his life - which is admirable I told him.
Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. I'm no business adviser. I have some related experience, but that doesn't make me any sort of leader or first mover or entrepreneur. I offered the best advice I could, about maybe volunteering, or just literally looking around his hometown and the surrounding area, and identifying problems that could use help. Basically, lots of vague advice. What would you guys say to someone in that position though?

He's in a small isolated town wedged between the mountains and the sea, a couple hours from any major city. The area he's in is primarily retirement, but it's been growing. Drug issues are a pretty major concern in the wider geographical area. Meth, heroin, etc. but there's some significant influence already in place to deal with it, treatment centers, etc.
edit: where could a person like him search for business partners? Craigslist? lol

Is he looking to make a difference and enrich the the lives of others?
I’d always suggest volunteering and supporting a non-profit aimed at helping children, children with special needs or a cause dear to his heart.

Ask him to buy the misc, remove all bannable offenses, and let the lulz flow. Also you could sell it to him by pointing out most of the misc has a learning disability and this is their safe space.

I like your advice, but I'd flip it. Volunteer with a couple of different organizations, figure out which ones are being run by competent non morons, then create some sort of a giving plan.

Also to add, you can request a copy of a non-profits annual report. It will show how their funds are being managed and how they are being allocated. And when giving a donation or a grant, you can restrict it. This ensures the money is specifically used for what you want it used for.
One more thing, he can always serve on a non-profit board. Finding good board members is hard! Many just join a board for the clout and pat on the back. Never attend meetings or actually do anything to help.
I hope your friend fiends what he’s looking for.

How the F are you supposed to know what drives him? He is essentially asking you for advice on how to be fullfilled......
If he has a ton of money, and an idea and wants to get your advice on how to make it happen thats one thing.
But what he is asking you for is laughable. You cant possibly help him understand what drives him do you?

Double plot twist. OP's friend is an HBB.

If she really has issues, she should just engage in a way that talks about her feelings, her challenges, her lack of fulfillment or whatever but that should not be in the context of money.

But to reiterate my OP, and clarify, the conversation did occur with an intended use of the wealth. Why that and not something more personal? I do not know. Maybe she just wants to achieve her own financial success as well, while simultaneously helping others.
